How much can a stock motor take?

the thread is about a STOCK motor. that being said - would you run your TT with the plastic manifold? It's 95 degrees here with 100% humidity, you bring your car over and I'll bolt on the one that I took off of mine and we can test out your set up.

Running nitrous on a non-intercooled TT setup? With a STOCK INTAKE MANIFOLD!?!?!?! How is that streetable? Plastic intake manifold + hot scavenged exhaust gases from a twin turbo + a 200 shot of NOS. That is not streetable.

I'm running a 125 wet shot on a 200 shot kit, with a Typhoon intake manifold and I am still sketched out to push the 125 on a daily basis, so I keep my 75 jets in for "daily driving" and frequent highway use :)
What are you smoking??? Why wouldn't the turbo kit be intercooled and who ever said about running nitrous with the power adder other than the OP. We already determined that is ****ing retarded.

Me and the local mustang guys have been thinking about doing some serious engine work to my car. and when i say serious i mean like i should be able to out run my buddies 2008 yamaha R1. As of right now it's not to modded. BBK shorty equal lengths, X pipe, spintechs, and so on. Im getting ready to order a 2.1 kenne bell, and some nitrous. If i can, im gonna try and squeeze 14 pounds out of the kenne bell. Im wanting to spray some nitrous to it. And when i say spray some nitrous to it i mean alot.....as in about 175 to around 200. Now i know it's stupid...but this guy on the R1 just wont shut up, so im either gonna blow it up or shut him up. Any of you guys think it's gonna last at all? Now what do u think would have to be done to the motor to handle this? I want to put cams in it, something like the comp 278 cams. How much boost/nitrous can a stock 4.6 take?

first off those mods will not come close to taking down an r1 man lol. if you wanna do that get yourself a 2.6 or 2.8L KB on an mmr shortblock. get a good ported head a good cam and then spray a bunch of nitrous then you may get one. thats talking about taking down a 9 second vehicle man.

and a stock 4.6 will only take 1 power adder before she pops. its not going to handle spray and a bunch of boost. 14psi would be too much on the stock motor with a KB. depending on tune its around 450rwhp.

This is what you have to remember, he is a beginner rider. He was outran by a stock gsx-r 600. It would be diffrent if he was a badass rider, but he isnt. My goal is not completly out of reach. I knew that combo would shatter the motor, but others were telling me it would hold so i asked. We do not race quarter mile where im at, we race 1000ft. He runs mid 9's in the 1000 ft. My friends fox with a 306 that has a turbo on it and he runs high 8's in the 1000ft and he drives this car everyday. So i know my goal is not to far fetched.

Eh? Not really IMO. It's just like tuning an NA car once you get the boost maps down.

OK first off, a 175 or 200 shot ON TOP of 14psi is going to be like a 400-500 shot. Expect 75hp from a 50 shot on top of a blower.

To outrun an 08 R1 you're going to need to be able to trap over 135-145 in the quarter mile... Realistically at 3600lb street weight you're going to need upwards of 800hp to trap 140mph. To do this you'll need ALOT of crap, like a rock solid motor, huge heads, a bigger blower than a 2.1l (2.6 or 2.8), more cubes would make it easy, a built trans to handle the power, and a built rear end. Look to spend upwards of $15,000 just on parts.

Sounds like it would just be easier and cheaper to swap in a different motor already built up and ready to go?
I want to build mine up a little, but with gas prices still climbing I am not in any big hurry to help my gas mileage drop even more thats for sure :(

very interesting. well with a lil bit of skill that 1000 will run hard. I beat 1000s that are stretched all the time on my 600 but i am a good rider. if you guys were to go from a roll it would be a different story you wouldnt have a chance. your best bet racing a liter bike is 1/8th mile. cause the more track you give him the better his chances are of winning. especially for a new rider on a liter bike.(scared to launch it)

but still you will need a well built rear end to be able to handle a launch like that to jump him.

He can only get mid 9s out of an r1?:lol::lol: My freegin 03 cobra runs 9.9s in the 1/8...thats funny as heck! I bet I would have him until teh 1/8 atleast....that dude needs to learn how to ride before trying to race it.

Im hoping that you meant that your cobra runs 9.9's in the 1000ft. Cause 9.9s in the 1/8 is slow. My slightly modded GT ran 8.6's in the 1/8.....but i know what you mean. That's what im saying. I can already hang with him right now from a dead stock up until about 700ft mark then he comes around me. I would just like to embarress him by putting a spanking on that ass in my daily driven car.

im still in shock i think that your buddy is only turning mid 9s in the 1000ft with a liter bike. cause thats just crazy 140whp with a 400lb bike hahahahaha thats just funny. if he strapped it down in the front he could launch harder and not have to worry as much about the front lifting. just becareful cause once he figures out how to launch it or gets more practice its all over so dont place bets on this race lol.

and one more question how long has he been a friend to you? he might be trying to hustle ya lol.

He is my best friend. I have seen him ride before. Ive raced him before. Right when i hit 3rd gear he passes me pretty hard. and my car run 10.70's consistently in the 1000ft. So im hoping with either some nitrous or another power adder of some sort i should get him

Find out the power to weight ratio of the bike then the weight of your car and how much horsepower you will need to exceed his.

Then factor in things like drag coefficient, the rolling resistance of the tires, weight transfer and acually being able to put the power to the ground, then multiply times 3.14 and divide by the number of members in the Back Street Boys(is it four or five? I'll ask my girlfreind).

Hang on I have a calculator right here........oh yeah, it says to just let it go. Let the guy talk smack. Be the bigger man, it's not worth it.
