I've seen a few guys running HCI plus blower or spray on stock bottom ends. Is this insane or pretty doable? Obviously it isn't ideal, I'm just wondering if this scenario usually ends in disaster.
I think its a pretty common set-up. Mustang stock bottom ends are pretty durable. Just don't go too wild with anything. My pal did it for 8 yrs with his hci & charger.
Its kind of luck of the draw, some people get blocks that last longer then others. Some will spilt even below 450 after awhile, and some will take 600 rwhp for years. There is a local guy putting down over 600 on a stock block with stock internals, h/c/i and a turbo says he's been running it for two years.
