I didn't realize that a 3G alternator upgrade wasn't a direct swap until just now. How much is actually involved Someone said they were going to make a walkthrough for us 91-93 2.3 guys(cough**Stinger**cough) but I can't seem to find it. Anyone have a walkthrough? Also do they make a more powerful 2G alternator or is 75/80 it?

lol I've actually done this on a 2.3... It's super simple. replace the 2 power wire setup with a bigger 8 gauge or so single wire. the white wire (I believe. it is the remaining wire on the power harness) goes to the other retainer on the back of he alt. The remaining regulator plug fits as it should :D. As for the fitting. you have to grind the piss out of the bracket just set the alt into place and remove material as necesary. just remember to remove the alt before grinding ;). And that friends is really all there is to it. Just dont pull a stanggrrly (it was her car) and hook the alt power wire to the starter side of the solonoid LMAO. That made for some interesting starting issues. ha ha.

Anywho hope this helps.

I didn't have to do any grinding...I couldn't even see what would need to be ground down. Mine slid right into place. My best guess is there are a few differen't styles of mounting tabs on those 3G's.

As stated, 2 big wires go to bolt on back, multi-wire plug is a direct swap, single wire left over goes to spade connector on alt.
