Ok, Im putting together my winter project plans, I know I know its only August but, I know what Ill be doing for sure. Right now the car has Edelbrock Heads, Vortech S trim 10 psi, Cobra Intake, all of the bolt ons, on a stock cammed stock block car. Ive run a 12.7 @ 114.81 but that was with a Powerdyne only making 6 psi. Im hoping to run low 12's at 117 ish with the Vortech and the some cooler weather. Im realizing that the Cobra Intake is starting to become restrictive. Ive been thinkin of having it ported but wondered if i should go with a whole new intake, maybe like a Systemax or something. The plans for the car are to add a 347 Stroker from DSS, within a year if this helps. If read an article where a guy with a very similar setup as mine gained 52 Horsepower at the wheels by swapping out a Cobra Intake and Shorty Headers, to full length headers and a Holley Intake. Is it in my best interest to switch Intakes to see some serious power, is there a better intake choice other than Holley?

As you probably know, the upper flows rather well, it is only the lower that would hurt. However, you are dealing with boost and not a N/A engine, boost overcomes a lot of restrictive obstacles (like intakes, TB's, ect.) It would be a toss up as to what way to go, personally I would up the boost if possible on the S trim to help compensate. Now by going with the 347, you would definitely be going into block-splitting territory (and them some). With the more cubes though I would definitely port the lower or go with something of the bigger variety from the edelbrock or trick flow crowd, but the Holley is still a very good performer. For what it is worth, I have a turbo and at 10 psi I was making 447 RWHP on 304 Cubes - and that is block splitting territory without the extra cubic inches. Needless to say I backed the boost down a little so the block would hopefully have a better chance to survive. Hope the combo works out for you though (as well as plans for a beefier block).
Good luck :nice:

Appreciate the insight man, good stuff. Maybe Ill wait until i add the stroker to put a better intake on or port whatever i decide. These cars suck, so dang addictive, just to go a little faster.

With the upcoming stroker swap...get a new intake. A Holley would be nice:nice:

It lets the supercharged (forced air) run more efficiently...an upgrade will only help with your car...:)

Good Luck!
