How much louder will my car get when I get rid of my stock mid pipe for a BBK X-pipe? I only have two cats on the car now, rears have been removed.

My '65 EFI car has the same cat-back, only long tubes and BBK X pipe and it's louder than **** compared to my '88 which has stock headers & mid pipe. Is it really going to get that much louder? I sure hope so!

Loud....in a good way though. The cats mute a LOT of the sound.

I figured they did. I want the full sound out of my car. My other car sounds so awesome, I just want my GT to sound the same, which is why I'm opting for the X pipe.

My car got A LOT louder when I ditched my cats. I wound up replacing my 2-chambers for a set of 3's because it was just too damn loud for me.

In my experience the off-road h-pipe doesn't make it much louder at idle, but at WOT it's a LOT louder.

i have a bbk offroad x pipe- it doesnt make it as loud as the h pipe does- but it gives it a nice raspy sort of sound- it makes it sound a lot better then the stock h pipe

O/R H here. The great thing is its not like deleting your muffs or dumping the headers. Thats just loud and sounds like crap. O/R pipes still give you the tone you want from your (insert muff brand here) and amplifies it...same good sound just much more of it. Although your gonna get a more raspy sound outa the X, where an H will make it more throaty. Good luck

Good point skoobie. The offroad h will make it louder, but in a good way. You won't have the bad resonation like when you dump the exhaust after the mufflers.

You'll get the old-skool muscle car sound. 5.0's sound a lot better at high-rpm's without the cats.

I love my O/R H and 2 chambers.

Sounds awesome. Pretty quiet at idle. But it gets pretty damn loud quick.

But Ive never had an trouble for it. Police dont seem to care.

lol, six hours after I got my O/R H pipe put on I was on the side of the road getting a fix-it ticket for ripping it to 6k RPMs through three gears while a cop was behind me.

When I asked him why he pulled me over, he said, "There's something wrong when I can hear your car from half a block back. You need a new MUFFLER."

Obviously, I got an uneducated one, but it made me smile as I walked back to my car.

I went from stock cats, to bbk catted x, to bbk o/r x, the difference from 2 cats to no cats is bigger than 4 cats to 2 cats. Like a lot bigger lol, if you have aim, I have a lot of before/after videos.

I have a pretty good idea what mine will sound like after I get the O/R X pipe installed. Just like my other car. They have the same cat back just different mid pipes. I can't wait to get the X pipe after I get my 3.55 geared rear end installed.

I've ran an offroad H with stock catback before and it actually doesn't sound too bad....it doesn't have that balls out sound that most aftermarket kits have but the stockers do have a good tone to'em.

Yep, Ford recommends 3.55s and it will be a better highway gear. Plus, first gear won't be gone nearly as fast as it is with 3.73s.

I just put on a BBK off road H on my 88. Its a lot nicer. Not super loud, but certainly not as quiet. Its not the noise that has me worried... Its the obvious smell of a non catted engine that has me concerned. Removing cats = federal offense for a highway vehicle.
