I started a thread about this last week or so. My 03 took 6 quarts. Its maybe just a tad under right at the halfway mark of min and max. I could maybe drop a quarter or a quarter of a quarter qt. <--- say that three times fast.

But im sticking with an even 6 qts.

hmm? on the manual it says 5qts.. and the dipstick read just a little above the "min" mark. So I added another qt and it's at the optimum level

5 quarts in my '00 GT (Windsor). I have to tell the service department each time to use only five quarts.

By the way, I used to change my own oil. Then I found out that at the Lincoln-Mercury dealership (where I bought the GT as a trade-in), they charge only about 22 bux for an oil change and that includes Motorcraft part-synthetic 5 w-20 oil and a Motorcraft filter. Can't beat that, plus L-M service has been excellent and they know my 'Stang pretty well since it's all in the Ford family.

'03 GT - 6 quarts Castrol GTX 5W-20 I use the top of the line Fram filter. I have been using Castrol for close to 20 years and I love it. No problems and every engine I have used it in has been solid.

My '04 has 11 valve cover bolts on each side and there is a "W" written on the block. Does this mean I have a '04 Windsor??

6 quarts of Castrol 5W-20 with a Motorcraft filter in my 02 GT. It takes the oil level to about 2/3's up between the min and max mark.
