How to do a burnout??

Hey guys.....a friend of mine was asking me if my '02 GT could do a burnout. I've never tried to......My car is a 5 speed and I don't have a line-lock, so what is the easiest way for a newb to do a good burnout and can it be done without damaging any part of the car? Thanks!!!!

It's very easy.
1. Left foot on the clutch
2. Right heel on the brake, with right toe on the gas.
3. With right toe, rev up to about 3500-4000 RPM's.
4. Slip out the clutch, don't pop it.
5. Move left foot from clutch to brake and put right foot all the way on the gas.
6. Keep it around 4000 or so RPM's for about 6-7 seconds and then slowly ease off the gas and ride it out.
7. Enjoy the wonderful aroma of burning rubber.

i just rev it in second and pop the clutch and then get on the brake mad smoke then

Some have forgotten a crucial element: use 2nd gear.

2nd gear is great for destroying tires no doubt!!!!

A good basic burnout is best to just let teh clutch fly at 4k and run it out, therefor not "destroying" your rear brakes. Being able to stop is more important for me LOL.

Dude omfg i've done that by accident, like a week after getting my car. Now days the first thing I do is shut it off, but, I was leaving an import get-together that i'm a part of, for volkswagon, and I pulled out, and they all wanted to see what the new stang was like, needles to say it pretty much sounded like I stalled it, and threw me into the steering wheel, but then I took off and when I hit second I got alot of fishtale, so, it still looked pretty mean. But embarassing, no doubt.

Rev to 4k. dump clutch in 1st gear STAB brake with left foot. hit 6 k, grab 2nd gear stab brak again. hit 6k grab 3rd gear stab brake again. hit 6 k grab 4th gear if still roastin roll it out if in odds are tires are toasted.

Brakestand != burnout. Just drive the car as you normally would, but... harder, I guess. Slam the gas down when you let out the clutch.

Wouldn't the Stangs with stock gears stall out if the burnout is started in 2nd gear?

You won't stall if you rev it up high enough and pop the clutch, but 2nd probably works better if you are in a puddle or something slick to start with. On dry pavement I just use 1st.

You don't have to "stab" the brake, as you aren't moving very fast. Just light pressure is all that's needed to hold the car from rolling, as you aren't going more than a few mph unless you messed up initially. It's a LOT easier than it sounds or looks, just be aggressive, and practice a few times on new pavement in an empty lot prior to doing it in traffic or anything.
