How to do a burnout??

With the mad tyte 4R70W I just powerbrake it enough to get them spinning and then just ROAST 'em through the gears

put it in 2nd.

ease out of the clutch while applying 1/2 or more throttle. as soon as you start moving, let off the clutch fully and slam on the brakes, at the same time going WOT.

you must stay on the throttle and not rev up and down like you can in 1st gear burnouts, cause as soon as you let off too much in 2nd, the engine bogs and youre tires grab and you jump forward. on a 2nd gear burn, i usually stay around 4500-5k rpm's.

what? teach me, i suck at Auto burnouts, i grew up on the stick (literally...)... autoburnouts i just hold brake and hit the gas till i hit 5000 and roll away... but it usually only spins 1 tire, then i try varying with D or 1, seems to be the same to me, it kicks it out hard into second but the burnouts always over before im going fast enough for second... maybe its my lack of gears? Its not a lack of power, it runs really strong. For some reason it tends to lock the rear end only when i just floor it, no brakes... and the burnouts just as long. Dont get me wrong, spinning the tires or a tire till 5000 leaves quit the smoke show but its not what i want to be doing.

I was so good at manual burnouts too, even got my 4spd manual 2.3 to do some nasty ones. Now THAT took alot of practice and clutch control.

I always thought it easiest to do a 2nd gear burnout a bit different, most of my stang buddies as well. Launch and let fly at 5k in 1st, then quick power shift second, you wont get lots of smoke, but, I leave like 60 foot patches of rubber when I do it that way heh. It really depends if you want a good roasting, where you just sit there smokin' them, or, burn and go, like the one I mentioned. There's different kinds of burnouts I guess.

For a long time, when i'd see someone doing a burnout, I would just think to myself, "well, he's not gettin any traction at all, i'd prob smoke him". But, no way to know if he's burnin' on purpose or actually launched and just had no traction at all. (This being on the street, not track, obviously)

I find it far more impressive to see a stang/camaro/vette whichever, pull a wheel off the ground on a dope launch, rather than see a burnout. But you dont really get to see that on the street....lol who would drive around on slicks...too expensive.

rev to 6000 and dump the clutch, apply the brakes 30 or 40 feet down the street

Well, it works best on hot asphalt when there is some melting on the surface.
