Seriously though, these guys are right about the ol' heel-brake, toe-gas method, not to be confused with the toe-brake, heel-gas that road racers use to downshift. It works really well and just takes a little practice. You may just want to sit in the car and practice pedaling with the car off until you're comfortable, then just go out and do it. You'll be doing John Force burnouts in no time. Just remember, do it in a low traffic area and be as safe as possible. No sense in banging up your car or worse, yours and someone elses.

With a drag radial, don't try doing a burnout dry......i.e. make sure your tires are wet.

:OT:

What are the best gears for the fox body? I'm DEFINITELY upgrading to at LEAST 3:73s, but I was wondering if I should just say **** it and go with the 4:10s.

Ultimately this depends on the rest of your car/engine combo. For all motor you'll probably be better off with 3.73s if you do any highway driving, but i'd opt for 4.10s and a decently tall tire for a track only car. For power adders you can get away with a lower gear....a lot of turbo guys around here run 3.27s and 3.55s.

You pilot a 7 second car and that is how you type responses on the net? Most guys with 7 second Pro5.0 cars (well most guys run faster with Pro5.0 cars) wouldn't be found making all their replys on the TALK section of Stangnet, but to each his own!

Now I do drive to 50 miles total on the highway everyday to work and back, so will 4:10s mess my car up or will everything be alright?

yea I have the 3.73's and still high rpm's on the highway. The 3.73's are on a weekend car so you would not want 4.10's on a car that is going to go 50 miles on the interstate everyday. the only reason people change them out is to get some low end torque. I love my gears but I am still breaking them in. Yea I would love pictures of the "beast" too. Let's see the 7.9's killer!

All I know is 2500-2700 RPM shows around 80 on the speedo with 285/35/18s and 3.73s.

thanks for your help '85 coupe. I am going to try that burnout when I get the mickey thompson's. I should have them now but I had to go into surgery so they have to wait a month. But I do have my setup of my whole car and now I know how to do the burnout. I am going to go try it out at no problem raceway in a few months
