How to Get rights to a word or company

hey all me and my friend are going to start a company/buisness with a word we made up by combining are initials.....
i wanted to know how to go about copyrighting this or whatever so no one can steel it?
is a completely made up word so wouldnt i be ble to copyright it? or am i looking to trademark something say the word or comapny name was going to be

stang inc. just lke miami inc or etc....how to i got about this...

You can register your business name with your local government so that no one else can take it. If it includes Ford or Mustang, try something else because Ford has been going after companies using their trademarked names.

If you have a specific product that you will be producing through this business, then there are ways to trademark it as long as there are no similar products using a similar name.

Theres gotta be something online that specifys how its done

Oh its "Miami Ink" a play on tattoos - a little different than the Incorporated abbreviation...
