To drill the stock thermostat housing, ude a 9/16" drill bit and a 3/8" NPT tap. Works great and is directly in the coolant flow path once the t-stat opens.

That was the reason I was saying to relocate the stocker (you kept asking about the need for a waterneck, etc. Then said you knew you had a dead port in your lower intake).
yeah, but i never knew i had to put my stock one in the back and the auto meter were the stock one goes. i thought you bought a new water neck to put in the after market one, and not relocate the stock one there. oh well. my mistake.
The #1 cause of cracked intakes I see are people putting too many lb-ft on the sensors or the coolant tube in the intake. Put some good pipe dope (or rtv) on the threads and just snug them up good, 5 lb-ft or so....
i plugged a couple of holes on the lower intake. So i just unplugged one and put in the after market gauge to it. I didn't know that your suppose to take out the stock sending unit and put the after market one there and the stock was suppose to go on the one i unplugged.
plus i had just bought a new gasket and thermostat. plus my upper intake was of, so it was alot easier to unplug one, instead of going to buy a new water neck.
