How to install new locks

I just a new lock kit from 50 resto. I have to change the exterior locks due to them being jacked up. I searched but didnt find any info on the install of new ones. I imaging its as simple as removing the door panels and unscrewing a few things. But I am probably wrong so any insight would be greatly appreciated.:SNSign:

Ok, This one is very easy. I did this one because the door lock retainer clip and lock was bad. You should take off the door panel with the window down then put it up afterwards to get access. You then pop the yellow clip off the retaining rod for the lock. Which in most cases you'll have to buy all new sets of all these clips because they all break or get close to it. Then removing the lock is the easy part you just bend the clip thats at the door and pull it out. Then when you do that the lock just slides out. Then out with the old in with the new and reassembly the door panel and your sound as a pound. Its a good time to replace door lock actuators as well if they are getting slow of course. If you have anymore questions let me know. I've done everything with the doors on a 5.0 and thats by far the easiest. Everything else scratches up your arms and breaks your fingers.

You know I got mine from a neighborhood lock smith. I'm sure dealers would have them but, thats always something worth avoiding. I think auto stores would have them though because they are the same on most cars. They are so brittle if you can save them in this it would be a miracle. Usually some come out easily and others just break one side of the clip.

You don't even need to pop the door panels off.
Just pull the clip, and the lock itself will pull out of the door. Pull it out, and once it clears, pull it up. You'll see that there is a plastic clip that's holding onto a rod. Gently remove the clip from the rod, don't let the rod fall back in. (Pretty hard to let it fall in but I've seen it happen) Clip the new lock onto the rod the same way the old lock did, gently push down on the rod as you install the new lock cylinder into the door. Hold the lock cylinder flush with the door and push the clip back in, and you're done.

all the connectors in there are a mess. Looks like someone tried to steal the car and jacked some stuff up in the process. I think I understand the install. but it looks like things are missing in there. Can you take a pic of your lock setup and post it? I just want to make sure everything is there and accounted for.

I won't be able to get to it until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. But if there's no other pictures up by then I'll be happy to snap some pictures. :nice:
