i have my motor just about done it is stock i just put all new gaskets, freeze plugs, timing chain, oil pump etc as i had to pull it out to some rust fixed. the only thing i am not real clear on is the stock rockers some people say just torque to spec but don't i have to wait for one valve to start close and the other open then torque one and then rotate till the other starts to open to do it? thanks for all the help guys

Do one cylinder at a time. Put piston at top dead center for cylinder you are working on...both valves will be closed. Then torque the rocker arms. If this was a basic rebuild with all the same components going back on (same heads, no milling, same cam, etc) then you shouldn't have an issue with the length being wrong. You should be able to slightly spin the pushrods. Good luck with it.

thanks for the quick reply as i am going to try and finish up friday night so i lets i bring #1 up to tdc and both of the valves will be closed and at that point i just torque it to the spec in my chiltons manual?
