I need to rebuild the dizzy in the wife's 94gt. I need to replace the pip. I once read a write up on how to rebuild them with pictures and instructions. Does anyone know where that write up is?? Or tell me how? THANKS

Honesty, if you can squeeze the money, I would just buy a rebuilt one. I think they are only like $89 with core exchange at most auto parts stores. It's so much easier.

Easier certainly but you're not guaranteed to get a new PIP. The rebuilt ones are tested and only if the PIP tests bad then it's replaced. So you may get a PIP that will fail in a week.

All about the shaft, Don't neglect the shaft!

Knocking out 2 roll pins and 2-3 bolts is that hard? Did this myself.....

Removal
Mark where the roll pins are in relation to the shaft. Get something pointy and knock the roll pins out the shaft with a hammer. Slide the Gear and other piece off the shaft. Now you can slide the whole shaft out the top of the distributor. Remove 2-3 small bolts and Volia its out....

Reverse Install
Put new Pip in...tighten little bolts....Slide shaft back in. Now (using the lines you marked earlier) slide the spacer and Gear back on the shaft. Make sure holes on the gear and spacer match those on the shaft (You can see threw hole on shaft perfectly). Now tap roll pins back into holes.....On the shaft

Wow thats most times ive seen someone say "shaft" in a non "Geey" way

Nice writeup, but the gear on the bottom of the dizzy doesn't always slide off. If your dizzy was already rebuilt this may be the case, but unlikely for OEM ones. The gear is normally pressed on the shaft, and won't come off without a press.

Now, you can remove the gear without a press If you have a vice and a brass hammer. After removing the pin from the gear, you can brace the gear on the vice and tap on the end of the distributor shaft. This will work the gear off slowly. The brass hammer is a softer metal than the dizzy shaft, so as long as you don't pound on the dizzy shaft you won't damage it.

I remember seeing a tutorial for replacing the PIP, but I can't find it right now.

Boys it hard to get that gear off on everyone I have done. I have really screwed up a few gears. I agree on the reman one. If you manage to get the gear off and upper roll pins out, then great. Make sure you mark the gear to make sure it is back in line for the roll pin re-insertion. even if you screw up and go the reman route, you can use the old one as a core.
