How to remove bumper in door when doing weatherstrip?

OK, im getting ready to change the outer weatherstrip/seal where the door glass meets the door on the outside. i can see how it is attached, but in the instructions, it says to remove the rubber bump stop that keeps the window from going down too far so u can lower the window below the door to gain access to this weatherstrip. my problem is i felt in the door and felt the bumper, but couldnt figure out how to remove it. thats kind of a blind area in there. i didnt want to try and rip it out in fear or ruining it or something. does anyone know how it comes out?

Its tough. The door has a slot maybe 3/8" wide by 1 1/2" long. The rubber that inserts into the slot is shaped like an arrow (narrow at the tip and widens as you push it in) then jogs in-wards to secure the stop. If the rubber is real old it could easily rib on removal.

Stick you arm in there and use a screw driver on on side of the slot and try to "slowly" work it out. IT's tough with no vision, plus your arm gets pretty scraped up.

I got new bumpers. They are cheap and used a little oil to help putting them back in to that little slot

If yours is like mine it has a split down the middle that runs down to the arrow shaped piece that goes into the slot in the bottom of the door. I just reached into the door and with my fingers pushed the two halves away from one another and it pulled the tab out of the slot. I think you also have to remove the metal stop near the regulator.
