I was washing my car today and out of the blue the paint on one of the side skirts started to chip away in HUGE chips. I never even noticed any spider cracks on it before, thats why i was so surprised. I guess i have to pull off the side skirt and take it into a body shop to have it re sprayed. No chance i would leave my car with a body shop, so i want to take it off at home myself and then just drop off that piece of the body kit. Anybody know how its on there or is there a write up somewhere? Is the whole thing just doube sided tape? and where can you get that double sided replacement tape at?

its just a couple of screws and double side tape. get 3m body tape from autozone or somewhere like that. not all double side tape is created equal, i've found that out from experience.

Tim is correct.

I have found in all of my years of past experience that the "grey" 3M double back tape is the best. After all, Saleen Mustangs are built with zip ties and double side tape!

cool, seems easy enuf. Is the double sided tape hard to get off or does it peel off nicely in one piece?

It's a bitch to get off.

The safest way is to use your fingernails to get off as much of the foam part of the tape off and then use the original Goof Off. Not the Goof Off 2.

I swear it's the best stuff to remove decal residue without taking off the paint. The guy who invented it should get the Nobel prize.

i finally got to looking at the side skirt tonite, i cant believe its really only 1 screw on either end in the wheel wells and then another couple when you open the door under the black trim piece. My double sided tape doesnt look in too good of shape either. Both ends of the side skirt that attaches near the wheel wells, the tape is starting to pull away at the tops. Is that the only place that has the double sided tape? Or is there any under the rocker part too?

Sorry man,

That's it for the tape. Unless your rocker has been off before and re installed by someone who knows what they are doing ( not likely ) then you have already found all of the screws and tape. It's an easy repair. Makes you wonder that it stayed on as long as it did with just those 4 screws holding it on. Eh?

The sn95 cars have twice the screws and more tape.

Need one more thing. My side skirt should be done any day now from being repainted. Underneath the car the skirt was held on by those round plastic push in pin/bolt/clip things. There were about 5 of them and when you pull them out it really warps the plastic cheapy threads. Where would i get some more of those when i go to re install it?
