How to remove the e-brake handle

I might do it this weekend. Is there a trick to getting the pieces to separate? Did you use just your hands?

I just used my hands. You kind of have to squeeze and twist the two pieces apart though (move them in opposite directions). If you try to pull them straight apart it's near-impossible.

It's also very hard to do without removing the console (especially reassembling the handle with the console in place) but I was able to do it so it can be done.

Finally got around to doing it (the dynomat ebrake fix) and was amazed at what a difference it made. The noise I thought was coming from the tranny went away immediately. Funny how noise travels. Everyone with an aftermarket shifter should do this, regardless of what brand shifter you have.

for ease of information, where did you install the dynamat?

Go to the MGW site Mustang Shift Handle and download or view the video installation. About 5 minutes into the video they show the fix. You need two small pieces of dynomat. One thin strip goes on the front of the brake handle facing the radio, a triangular piece covers a small hole on the driver's side. The video makes it clear. Made a big difference in my car.
