Here is the whole deal. Me and my buddy bought stock 91 and 93 5.0's.
His- 93 GT 5.0 5 speed
Mine 91 LX 5.0 5-speed
We want to see who will be faster at the track by spending $1800.

His car- GT 5.0 5 speed with- Underdrive pulleys, BBK equal length headers, BBK-intake, E303 cam, 24# injectors, 70 mm MAF, 70mm T/B, stock block& heads, 3.55 gears

Mine-BONE STOCK except 3.73's-help me spend my $1800 wisely.

nitrous- 500.00
slicks- 250.00 to 300.00
cheap headers- 150.00
cheap h pipe-125.00
pull heads and port them- 50 for porting materials and 70-90 for gaskets
port intake- use the leftover rolls from the heads
Mild cam- maybe trick flow stage 1- 150.00
timing chain-60.00 , might as well change it while its apart
24# injectors- 190.00
250lph fuel pump- 130.00
fuel prssure reg-100.00
remove front swaybar and anything that is not needed for race-Free

He's got a decent head start on mods....just don't tell him you have a bottle in the trunk till right befor the race.

Damn man, thats damn near what I was gonna suggest!
Does your buddy get to spend the same amount of money being he is starting with a few decent mods? I would say you would be set with this little setup though, Put a few $hundred on the race so you can get more parts. Remember, keep the bottle a secret and hope he dont think of it also!

Who's money is this? I would build a nice motor for that money. You could get a 347 stroker kit for around 1k and still have $$$ left over for a n20 kit... plus... after you wax his ass... you would still have a nice stroker motor. Or you could do the stroker with a good top end combo and still come out with a fully built motor win/lose/or draw. Pushrods can get very happy off of 1800 bucks. I'm thinking more long term here.

This race is just between friends. I do have a 347 and a Vortech in my 93. Just looking to see what would be best for everyday driving and still beat him. If the cars are equal I will easily outdrive him. He just bought his car. I've had Mustangs since 85. It was the first one I ran NOS on and got hooked.

Thanks,
Dave

Well... you said you were stock except gears. This changes the situation entirely. What else do you have so we can work from there?

This motor is stock, the 347 is in my other Stang. Wouldn't quite be fair to run that against his motor.
