well guys , my car shut down while cruising on the freeway the other day.

it cranks but it doens't start or fire up. theres fuel but no spark. i changed the ICM, but no go.

whats the best way to check if the coil packs are bad?

i want to check for power at the coil connector? or resistance?

Its the Crank trigger.

Mine did the same damn thing. coil packs rarely go bad, and they are redundant. I can tell you with much confidence that its the crank trigger.

how hard is to replace the crank trigger??

i heard you have to align it.

it isnt too hard, you have to remove all the belts, and the crank pulley. As long as you dont remove the timing belt you dont have to align anything. If you Do remove the timing belt you will have to set the cam timing. Which is just basically lining up the marks. Its not a difficult Job.

I think the crank trigger answer is right on.

But the individual coils in the coil pack can be tested for continuity and resistance exactly like old individual coils.

since the coil packs have three prongs at the connector outlet. i want to check resistance to see if theres an open or short. where do i put the leads from the voltmeter/ohmmeter??
