FRPP 347 stroker kit, e-303, twisted wedge heads, 1.7rr's + all the mods in my sig.
I think I might want a more aggressive cam....Strip only, car will be trailered there...Retired from street use.....About to order in a few days, need any imput before the deal's sealed....
Strip car only huh? How about a victor 5.0 intake or a TFS-R intake or a tfs R box intake if you have the hood clearance? For cam's, try flowtechinduction.com, hitechmotorsports.com or an anderson N91 cam. 1 3/4" longtubes, 3" mid pipe. Don't forget to upgrade the valve springs to match the cam. Your cam grinder will pick them out for you. I dunno much about the pistons i that motor so be sure they can fit a bigger cam before ordering anything.
hey, I've seen that FRPP 347 before...which one did you get? the one with forged or hyper pistons...the Forged ones IIRC, use Probe slugs, while the hyper version uses KB...either way the pistons should be able to support close to a 0.600" cam w/about 235*-240* duration.
I'm with Grn on this one for the intake...if it's gonna be strip only-sell the street heat, and grab one of the aforementioned ones and go for a custom cam...or at least something with more duration, since it's going to be strip only-go balls to the wall!
edit:...well, not too balls to the wall, the FRPP 347 is only in a sportsman block...kinda limited in the hp ballpark
Actually I got the frpp kit that includes nodular cast iron crankshaft 3.40 in. stroke,
KB hypereutectic flat top pistons,
Federal Mogul rod and main bearings,
Grant piston rings,
and Fel-Pro gaskets.
I'll be doing the machining balancing and blueprinting at my college. I'm in a class "high performance engine blueprinting". So I'll be retaining my current block. I was thinking about using a main support girdle also. The x cam looks better with the .542" lift. The heads come assembled so i'm just going to leave the springs, next semister I'm going into "advanced clyinder head porting and airflow carecteristics" so I might mess with the springs them when I port them. The twisted wedge's are good up to .600" lift
The street heat will be holding me back huh?
Should I go with 24lb injectors? I really don't know when to step up them up. And do they really require a calibrated MAF sensor to work right?
Thanks, sorry to ask alot of questions in one thread, but I want to get the right parts the first time. I figure you guys who have been there, done that will give me the best feedback I could get.
First the cam and the top half of the motor need some attention to make use of the extra cubic inches, your going to be unhappy with the results.

Go custom cam, off the shelf will not yeild the best results with that combo.

Don't choose a spring by the spring pressure, that is a common misconception. You need to base it on the total cam specs, rpm, valve train weight, ramp rate, lobe shape, etc....
