I was wondering if anyone has actually tested HP difference between X or H pipes with hi flo cats versus off road pipes with no cats. I have a 98 Cobra and was wondering if the swapping for emissions testing is the worth the exta Hp you get from a pipe with no cats or having one with cats that can stay on all the time..

I wouldnt even try hi flow cats. First of all they are like $400 a piece. My H-pipe shipped to my door was like $130. Smells like a motor boat, and have to go to the south side of town for inspection, but hey, why pay more for less?

i thought the same thing pay less and get more hp. however im switching back to a pipe with cats because of the smell and mostly the cops here in nj, i get pulled over too much. so i ts winding costing me alot more to do it this way. i dont think it will be that much different prob. 5 hp.

It depends on your modifications. The more radical your engine combo, the more restrictive the cats become. As for bolt-on or mostly stock, the difference is truly negligable, from what I've read. Oh and make your own; hi-flow cats are cheap on ebay, as millatime pointed out.

I have the bbk x-pipe with high flows (gutted). the only difference i felt before gutting (due to broken stone thingy inside cat) and after was that the car seemed to pull a little harder on the interstate at 80mph in 5th after gutting them.

edit: also after is quite a bit louder
