I know a guy who has a '94 5.0 with these modifications.
Trick Flow Intake
30# injectors
75mm throttle body and MAF
Accufab Regulator
BBK Headers
BBK CAI

Anyone wanna give me an estimate at how much power this thing may make? I know it ran f***ing hard in his car. But, he wrecked his car and is going to sell me the engine and tranny out of it. I want to put it all in my '65.

I plan on putting in new rings and brearings, cam, and will tune it. Any estmates at how much more power I could pick up with a bigger cam (Looking at a Comp Cams 281HR ) and a good tune? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The 75mm TB is NOT, repeat NOT an overkill. It matches the 75mm inlet on your tfs manifolds perfectly and is what you want. Good choice on keeping it despite what people with no experience tell you :)

Through the c4 in your 65, i'll guess 235-240rwhp. Is your 302 a roller? What heads you running, stock e7's? Be sure to change the valve springs in them if you run a cam with them.
 
you going EFI in your 65, or swapping your carbed goodies over to the new motor?


If EFI, your probably going to want some smaller injectors such as the stock 19lb ones, insted of the 30's which are overkill on most mild 302's.
Im assuming this car will have full exhuast, and not a catted stock h pipe.
Ide have to guess 225RWHP through the C4.. (yea they hog that mych power)

Guys, he's right though. I used to think the same thing until I was enlightened. I just don't feel like explaining it. :D

Joe, im really a nice guy if you ever meet me :) But seriously dude, this arguement comes up 50 times a week and its annoying when uneducated people post crap and it ruins it for other people because then they start believing it and before you know it, we have a HUGE internet myth started by internet racers who probably use a stock TB and/or who never even did 1 bit of research on the topic. I, too, used to be uneducated, but i've since been educated on the subject and now I KNOW what works!

with above items he might get 220-230rwhp, but will lose on torque.

Add after market heads and lose the 30lb injectors for 19s or 24s he'd gain another 40-60 hp.

100% wrong. I was lean as crap on 24's with my 295rwhp car. I use 30's now. I use a 65mm on my car now, but it NEEDS a 75mm so bad its not even funny. But im saving $ for a new motor now, so im not gonna swap. I'll use a 75mm or a 75mm race TB (90mm opening) on my new combo.

30's are the perfect injector if he has good head planned in the future. You do realize the eec adapts to get eveything where it should be, right? Not all the time though, soemtimes it cant adapt.

For the record, my friend did 245rwhp on his 94gt with a cobra intake, full exh, pulleys and a c&l maf :)
 
Actually, it's got a T-5 tranny behind it. This thing is making plenty of power and the guy doing it knows what he's doing. The car is stupid fast for only having these mods and stock heads & cam.

I am wanting to take the whole engine and tranny out of his car (which is wrecked) and put it in my '65.
 
So trade him the 65mm for your 75 mm cause your car needs it his doesnt. His car is nearly stock. And if it doesnt hurt his numbers on the dyno its hurting throttle response. I've got a book at home with tons of different engine combinations and their dyno results, and there is an entire chapter dedicated to this tb topic. If I could remember the name of it I'd post it. But unless he has some forced induction or better heads he doesnt NEED that tb yet. Never said to take it off but he surely doesnt need it.
 
Did you guys even read my original post? I am saying, this guy has THIS engine in his 1994 GT Mustang. It has all of the modifications I have listed. I want to take that engine out of his and put it in my 1965 Mustang. His car has been wrecked.

I am planning on using all of the modifications he has and getting a bigger cam along with either a port job or a set of good heads.

Who told you this, or how did you formulate this assumption? In a game where air + fuel = horsepower, and the more horsepower the better, how could you say something so ironic?

230, 235 rwhp with a good tune... and for all you guys saying the 75 is too big, well, more air = more horsepower. This is the fundamental concept behind turbo and supercharging. I don't see how a bigger TB will hurt performance.

To answer the cam question, a lot of guys on here swear by custom ground cams by Ed Curtis. The crane cams are usually good off the shelf because they are relatively mild, but who the hell wants mild, the whole point is making it more aggressive, am I right? I gather from reading these boards that you call up Ed Curtis at Flow Tech Induction, tell him how fast you want the car to go and what you're putting into it, and he will grind you a nasty cam for something like 350. A little steep, but there are guys on here with 9 year old 302s putting down 320 rwhp NA, which is pretty sick.
