I'm looking at putting a custom ground cam in this winter.
Should I get a dyno tune and chip with this change? Anything else I would need to do with this upgrade?
Is this something I could do myself?
What would be my hp gains?
I don't want a blower or nitrous.
My car is used mainly for drag racing, not a daily driver. So I want the most power I can get out of it.
I have a new Ford Racing GT-40 b-303 cam crate motor with 1300 miles on it.
Below is my set-up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I don't think you will gain enough HP per dollar to make a custom cam worth it. I would suggest stepping up to a bigger Ford Racing cam or something similar. Another wise investment might be a set of aftermarket fuel rails and injectors. Just my $0.02

I'm assuming those are the X heads right? If so i dont think there is all the much power to gain with a custom cam. What you could gain however is low rpm torque and driveability if you wanted it but it sounds like you only want peak hp for the strip. For all out power...i think you may pick up another 10-20rwhp...tops

He has plenty of injector and the stock fuel rails are plenty for what he has.

I would spend an extra $150 dollars on a custom cam over the Ford cam's...

That extra $150 dollar could get you 10-15rwhp over the Ford cam. 1 hp per $10 is pretty good:nice:
