HP TT OR Proturbo Single T-76?

About to drop out the ported eaton and upgrade to a turbo in my 03, anyone have or heard of HP Twin Turbo? or should I go with with Proturbo Single T-76? These are the only companies my shop will install..Which company can I rely on, I want to put near 700 hp at the wheels and still use pump gas. I've heard that HP makes great low end power but that's only going to spin my tires, I rather have hard top end but you can also upgrade to bigger twin set up with HP. I've always thought single is better? Anyone can help would be real cool :nice:

I don't know about the mustang turbos, but what i know in general is... a single turbo is usually pretty big and is great for just making big power. but it will have a serious lag. smaller twin turbos will spool quicker, but will not produce as much top end as bigger single turbo. I guess by having 2 smaller turbos you could add up to the displacement of the single big turbo. In my opinon i would go with the twin turbos. but i have only ever driven one turbocar and it was a subaru. good luck let us know what decide.
 
sounds like fun. And I have no idea what would be better, only all the big supercar manufacutres that use turbo's always go twin setup on a V engine, so I guess there must be a reason for it.


Or you could go OTT and do a Quad turbo setup for your Quad cam engine. Just like the outrageous Bugatti EB110

you just needed an excuse to post that pic :D I am not complaining.
 
Yea go twins, and if you throw on 17PSI on pump gas, you will max the stock fuel pump at about 720RWHP...if you upgrade your fuel system, your prolly looking at a good 800RWHP on pump gas...too much power IMO. I would get a KB with a cobra, when the turbos kick in your going to light the tires at almost any speed and will probably just wreck. The car will be capable of mid-low 9s at 147+. IRS has to go if you use slicks, tranny may not hold either. Not to mention full roll cage and a bunch of chassis work...thats why my goal is 600-650RWHP, anything over that just gets too dangerous and expencive. But like said if you still want 700+rwhp go twins, the single would take more time to spool and when it comes in you would REALLY need to know what your doing as it would hit even harder, and if you get out of it your going to have to wait a little again and go threw the burst of power again as the turbo spools back up. KBs are much more predictable at those lower Lvs...or you could just run 13-15PSI with turbos, that would make it tamer.JMO

id be inclined to go with the TT from Modularpowerhouse, they offer some real good advice on the phone too, give them a call and see what they sujest to get you to your ultimate goal..

yes research. you also have to remember in the 4 valve cobra engine is there little tq down low, exactly where roots blowers help out and where a single big turbo wont. small twins will spool quicker. i miss the low end grunt of my 2 valve :flag:
 
I'm in the same spot. My shop who tunes my mustangs has installed just about every brand of turbo kit on a modular except for an HP TT kit. They said they all fit like crap, kind of dissapoints me considering you spend over $6k. They were telling me about having a custom built single turbo setup for my 96 but I would be without my car for a month. I can't decide between the PTS 76mm, a custom setup, HP twin 57s, or save a little more and go with induction concepts.
 
What if I get twin with larger turbos, will that help with top end?.. Do you think my stock motor, clutch, tranny, and irs can handle the power at the track or everyday driving?..I'm not planning on gunnin this thing every chance I get.. but its good to have--thanks for your help

Every thread I have read says the single turbos run out of steam at about 5500 rpm and stop making power. There is a big discussion on modulardepot on this. modularmustangs.net (modular performance) has installed several HP turbos and everyone seems to be real happy with the kit. If it was me I think I would go with a KB 2.2 over a twin turbo. It just seems more streetable and on demand and really does not peter out sharply on the top end.
 
my tuner recently did a HP twin 57 install on a 03 Saleen Cobra. the car at 12lbs of boost made over 600 on pump gas and they have not yet tuned it for race gas and more boost. Mike was telling me the car sucks to drive because it blows the tires off and changes lanes on you at any speed basically. He said its hard as hell to get the car to hook up and stay hooked. the kit looked to be a nice clean install... I don't know if they had to do any fab work. you could probably contact Mike if you had any specific questions. www.dezracing.com

Do you go to epping to race at all, i am from mansfield. when i need to get my car tuned, i think i am going to mike dez.

yes I goto Epping for FFW and Tasca day usually. I do an occasional test and tune as well. will be there for sure this year and I can be found at Dez's shop from time to time. I would definately advise you goto Dez for a quality SCT tune.
