Huge DS problem!!!

I just put up the trans last night and i cant get the DS to slide in to the trail shaft of the trans... it goes all of 2 inches and stops.... but when i took it out from under the car and put it on my old trans it goes in nice and easy what gives!!!!

Is the spline count the same between both trans?

Does it feel like it is hitting something solid (metal to metal)?

Found the problem.... the metal spring that was inside the tailshaft seal was protruding out and in to the trans... had to pull the gasket and force the DS in a few times... put some scratches on the yoke but should clean up on the first drive
