I am getting ready to order....

The styled steel wheels from Stockton wheel for my 1965 Mustang Fastback with a stock 5 eye leaf with a one inch lowering block and stock drums in the rear. I just wanted to double check which backspacing that I should go with. Should I do a 15" x 8" with a 4.5" backspace, or a 4.75"? Stockton will do any backspacing, and I just need to know what will work the best. This wheel needs to be able to accomodate a 235/60/15 BFG Drag and clear the fender with no modification. Thanks again guys.

i noticed your sig says you are from Plano-Lubbock. i guess that means you go to Tech then huh? well if you want we can check to see if my wheels will fit on your car, i have 15x8's on the back with a 275/50-15 not sure on the backspacing but i think it is 4.5 but it could be 4.75 i know they fit really well though

Hey bnickel - Yeah, I am a soph here out at Tech, but I do not have my 65 out here. It is back in Plano right now, but thanks so much for the generosity though. I wish I could take you up on that offer though because I would love to go with a 275 and see if there would be any odds of it fitting, but I am pretty doubtful that a tire of that tread width would work. Any other takers on what the best backspacing would be with a 235/60, or even a 275/50? Thanks

bad news there is no way a 275/50-15 will fit in a 65-66 car, i had thought i saw you post once that your car was a 67-68 which would probably work with minor mods. sorry to get your hopes up, but it looks like the 235/60-15 is about your only choice, unless BFG makes a 245/50-15 in the drag radial series, that would fit pretty well although it is kind of short so it might not look right depending on what size tire you have up front. if you went with a 225/50-15 up front and a 245/50-15 out back that would look pretty good. something else to think about is the rear gear you have in the car now, you can effectively gain a lower gear ratio by using a smaller diameter tier in the rear without having to change the gears out.

Yeah bnickel - I knew it would be stretchin it to fit that tire underneath the rear of my car. I have BFG Radial T/A 215/60/14's on styled steel wheels on the front with 3.55 rear end gears driven by a Tremec 3550 and around 300-310rwhp/tq. With that in mind, do you guys think that I should go with the BFG Drags in the 235/60/15, which is 9.5 inches wide and 26.1 inches tall, or should I go with an alternative tire? P.S - I did not see a 245/50/15 in a BFG Radial T/A either. Thanks!

i'd go with the 235/60-15 then. i don't know if BFG has the 245/50-16 in radial ta line but they do it have it in the comp ta line and the euro ta line, if they even still have the euro ta line, i haven't checked on euro ta's in a long time though

Thanks for all the help bnickel. BFG Drags it is in the 235. Oh, also, if you ever see a Dark Highland Green Bullitt crusin around with a Mach 1 chin spoiler, flag me down. I live out here off of Quaker and 82nd, so I am in this area often. Have a good one man. -Taylor
