i better not need 24lb injectors

im putting the speed density motor back together this weekend with pretty much all stock parts BUT instead of displacing 302ci....its 331 now.....will i need new injectors?

you'll need Mass-Air. 331 will flow too much air for the SD computer to understand what's going on. It won't be able to get the A/F ratio correct with the preprogramed limits it has. At the very least you will need a custom SD program made for the new 331 setup.

it will probably run ok if your just driving casually around. once you start increasing rpm's though i dont think it will do too well.

just curious, how come you decided to go with a stroker and all stock components?

lol im a college student and cant afford heads.....iam putting a cam in it though and headers, the cam is sd friendly so i was told the lift is like 498... i have a liberty 4spd that i plan on putting in the car im just slowly peicing the car back together. Plus i almost have my 03gt paid off and that will free up alot of cash for aftermarket parts

ah i hear that. nice set of cars for a college student though.

im 18 and looking for a newer modular daily driver myself. dont know if ill be able to keep both though :)

If you are going carb, may I suggest a Weiand Stealth and a Barry Grant 650 vac secondary Speed Demon? Don't forget you will need to convert to a different distributor (non-computer controled) and ignition. And the EFI fuel pump is way too much psi for a carb.

Just be sure you have a steel cam gear on the distributor you get. :nice:

i already have a mech distribute and MSD igniton laying in the garage brand new....so all i need is a good carb and intake.....thanks for the suggestions! i have heard nothing but good things about the stealth, its resonably priced too which is important since im on a budget....88sc gt definetly consider getting into the modular family...my 03 gt ran 13.29@104mph at world ford challenge

Yeah, I agree. I have a '98 GT. Not as powerful as the '99-'04 cars, but not too bad either. Rock reliable. Hate to say it, but it's 10 times the car that my '90 GT is. If I had torque in my '98 like the '90 has, the '90 would get sold pronto.

It will run it just wont like it. I did a h/c/i swap on my 87 when it had the stock motor in it and it ran like azz. It couldnt find a idle. It went 800-1500 and would almost die. Mass air conversion solved it.

yeah i have done very limited reading about the modular motors. they make some stroker kits now that help out the lowend alot too, dont they?

i just dont have the money. if i was to get one, i would do limited mods. i want a white 01+, lowered, wingless, with black deepdish bullets :hail2: guy was selling one on ebay and i was like that is what i want right there.

im back and forth on selling my car already. im a very split second decisioned person also, so i may end up with one sometime still

good luck with your project though.

whats weird is that my friend did a 331 two years ago on a sd motor and that thing ran like a raped ape

I've heard similar stories before. Some SD cars are more tolerant of mods than others. No one really knows why. It may have ran great at WOT when the computer went open loop, btu what about part throttle?

You said you were gonna go carb anyway so you have nothing to loose when trying.
