Before anyone asks for pictures -- I'm too tired to get them right now, I'm planning on doing some pictures this week sometime after I wash the car, so I can show off my new fart pipes. I'll get pics of the new TB setup then if anyone really wants to see it. Looks just like Jake's anyway
Here are my initial thoughts:
1. Pretty easy swap, except the throttle bracket hit the coolant pipes and I had to go at it with a dremel tool to get it to fit. This is "stage 1" -- I still need to cut a bigger hole and stick the MAF & Filter into the fender. Right now it's just where the old FIPK was. I also haven't opened up the opening on the intake yet (I don't have the appropriate tools here to do that).
2. Wow! I had forgotten how touchy the Fox throttle setup is. This isn't really a surprise to me, since it's a linear actuation, unlike the standard 94/95 setup -- but I am now having to relearn how to drive, I end up giving it a lot more gas than I expect when I'm slipping the clutch
3. My SOTP meter doesn't really think there was much of a change in power from the swap. But it's also running a bit crappy right now, as it learns the idiosyncracies of the new MAF. I would have expected the new MAF to be identical to the old one in terms of curve, but apparently not. On my first drive there was a bit of snap crackle pop from the extra fumes.
So anyway, my plan is to give it a couple days to learn, and then pull out the TwEECer and see how the MAF curve is looking. Then off to the dyno for some tuning.
