Drag racers are by far the most awesome and cool people I have met in I don't know how long. I can't think of many other places that you could go and have an almost instant friendship with people who you have never really met before or only slightly know. (except for import races)

So it's been quite a long time since I have been actually racing at the track as I have been putting a lot of things in my life together financially and although I could afford it I quit racing to help my future out. So 99% of the time my attendance at the track has just been watching and helping out with friends cars.

Saturday I decide it's time to start racing and having fun again before I start building the car and get some baseline runs. I get the car all washed up and ready to go and head to PIR and as I am going through tech they tell me that my battery is not properly strapped down and that I can't race until it is.

So I look around and see 3 Fox bodies together and head on over and put the wheelchair together and hop out of the car and introduce myself and ask if there is anyone who when they were done working on their own cars would mind helping me fix mine so I could race. The next thing I know I have 5 people under my hood getting me all set up, and two people used their own parts (although minimal it was big to me).

All I can say is that drag racers rule and that I can not say thanks enough as being paralyzed is hard enough as I have the mental ability to know what to do but not the body, and having people like this in the world really make my life so much better and being paralyzed just that much easier!

I would have to agree with this statement 100%. If you look at some other forms of racing, especially roundy rounds, there is a lot of competition, but also a lot of rivalry, drama, and fights in the pits, etc. Not of lot of sportsmanship at all.

Sure, there is less on-track interaction with drag racers, but in all my years I've never seen anything but friendliness and good sportsmanship with drag racers. I've seen guys donating parts so another guy can run, I've seen ford guys helping a guy get his chevy back together, and vice versa. Hell, even the import guys have been pretty respectful and cool to me when I've been out there.

It's one of the things I like about drag racing so much, is the very cool group of people. Even the grudge matches are all in good fun, and everyone is laughing and chatting after the race.

Also, If you ever see me out there and need some help, lemme know , I'll be glad to do it. I'll be in the white stang slowly creepin down the track

Same goes for me. I am at the track just about every weekend. Everytime i go i meet new people that just want to talk cars and usually mustangs but i like everything with an engine. As far if anyone needs help or just talk i have the blue 66 mustang.

John it was great to meet ya and nice car ! As much as we can help out one another is better and i would be greatful if someone ever returned thefavor to me! Even tho i stood there pointing fingers and B.S ing more then helping But later that night on the return road as you seen i was down there with ben and "MONGOOSE" helping getting his car back together after he broke! **** i only ran twice since i spent my hole eveing helping and fixing other stangs, but that was more important then racing to me , just getting a stang and a driver going to see them have fun also! Ben and shelly kept telling me GO RACE MAN but nope i started helping so i'm finishing it along with him and MONGOOSE then i'll race, i still have all year and next and so on to race right now we need to get it going so he could get home! So was great meeeting you and giving as much help as possible to you, hope to see ya in 2 weeks. peace

I agree, JohnnB. In the last 3 years of racing my car has been trailered home twice, both of those times in the last month or so. Each time racers were kind enough to take my car home on their trailor. Each time they did it as a favor asking nothing in return. Of course, I rewarded their efforts on my behalf but the circumstances reflect the camararderie if the sport.

Sweet Ben just let me know and I will get the stickers for you no problemo! That mat was mine as I use it to keep the titanium from tearing the isht out of the side of my car when I pull my wheelchair up to hop in. Maybe I might be ablt to meet up with you somewhere and we can make the exchange.

Looks as though I might have blown a head gaskett on my last run, so I am a bit pissed/freaking out.
