Alright, I'm sure we've all been through this.

I'm also pretty sure some of you guys lift and such after reading the torn miniscious thread.

Anyway, I'm currently just under 200lbs and about 5'10"
I'd like to get to around 160-170 and tone up a bit.

What do you guys do to exercise, any suggestions? I use to play football back in HS and was probably in the best shape of my life... Now it feels like I'm slacking and losing where I wanna be.. I've also noticed I have less energy and seem to be lazy..

Anyway, suggestions?

get off your fat ass and do about 150 pushups and 150 sit ups a day, and run 10 miles every morning. trust me, this can be done. i did that and more in basic training! :) you'll like what you see in the end after just a few weeks...but stick with it for 6-8 weeks, 6 days a week. then just do like 50 each and a mile or two 3 times a week. good luck!

I'm in the same boat.... just 6 foot tall. Not into that exercise/work thing. LOL

I gave up soft drinks for the second time in my life. Made it 9 months back in college, then some stupid waitress brought me a regular instead of diet. Ruined me.

So far so good. After the first month, your energy level will suddenly rise.

cut the junk out of your diet, eat smaller meals more times a day, do cardio at a minimum of 3 times a week, life some moderate weights so you gain some muscle and don't look malnourished

i myself just started goin to the gym again. i am currently 6'2" and weigh 215 i would like to get down to 200 even. i do cardio 3 times a week and lift weights 3 times a week. i have so much more energy now then i used too, and it is really easy to stay motivated when you have someone to go with.

don't do any pushups or situps is boring , you have to find something funny and interesting , something like running in the woods , jumping over the rocks , broken trees you now , every day you can select diffrent patch but be careful , wear good shoes to protect your ankles , listen music to keep you motovated , try fit this into your life style

I used to work out over 5 years until i came here (U.S.) and my shape is not so great now , I am 6.2 235-245 pounds (thick bones hehe)

This is my routine... I bring a notebook every day to the gym and record my progress. Here's the last week. This is an Eastern Conjugate style, which I learned by reading Joe DeFranco's website www.defrancostraining.com.

I was thinking about this after I wrote my routine up... thats not really gonna help you!

I was trying to advocate strength and here's why: I get bored with just running, situps, and pushups. Its the same thing over and over. As you start to get bored, its easier and easier to skip a day here and there. I like strength training because you are burning a ton of calories, you're changing your body shape for the better, and because you need to get more involved in it you don't get as bored. I have all kinds of excel spread sheets, notebooks, etc.

The hardest part is that first 6 months when you lay the basic foundation of strength. After that its awesome. Charting your progress is great as well, you can see yourself plateau and then make adjustments, etc etc

There's no sense in looking like Tarzan but lifting like Jane...

Nik, you are not small.

i need to gain weight!!! im 5'10" and only 155!

i always feel as if i have no energy...im gonna start going to la fitness with two of my buddies

does anyone have good advice for someone who has NEVER gone to the gym before?

Sade, grab a buddy whom works-out, knows what he's doing and who is not a ton bigger than you are, and tag along. This will provide a decent level of comfort and ease your mind a bit.

Good luck.
