Last Thursday my wife and I said good bye to our 2002 Escape XLT. It was the first new car we had ever bought and it served us well for 6 years and nearly 100K miles. We absolutely loved it, however with our daughter and the frequent trips we make in it to see my in-laws it was getting to be kind of small so we started looking for a replacement. Prior to seeing the 2008 escapes we had planned to get a hybrid one, but once we saw them we just couldn't do it as we both absolutely hate their new look. We took a day and went to every make of dealership we could to see what else was out there. In the end it came down to the lexus 400H, Nissan Murrano, Mazda CX7, and the new ford Edge. The lexus dealer was on crack for what they wanted for the 400H, the nissan was a little over priced for the options in our opinion, so it came down to the Mazda and the ford. We drove and liked them both... my wife wanted the Mazda and I wanted the edge. It all came down to what we were getting for our money and in the end the Edge won out. I liked it before we bought it, and I LOVE it now that we own it. We took it to the FFW event this weekend in New Hampshire and it was a pleasure to drive. We racked up over 1500 miles on it and I know we made the best decision. We managed 23.7MPG on the trip to NH to boot! We got a SEL + with just about every option available:
-Vista roof (which is awesome BTW!)
-DVD Navigation
-leather seats with power, heat, and memory
-Sirius radio
-18" chrome clad wheels
-class II tow package
-and much more

Here are a few pics. My wife picked the color combo and I think she did an excellent job.

She just had to strike a pose with the new ride! LOL!

I like 'em too. Nice choice.

I dig the signs letting people know where to put their vehicles and where to ingress (PARKING and CUSTOMER).

Give us a pic of the Vista roof. Overall the vehicle looks kinda cool. Little funky at first, but it's growing on me. I don't think I've met one on the road down here yet. Or if I did, I didn't realize it was a Ford.

Good to see the wifey in pics again too.

Yea i got it paul but my mind is at a bit of a stand still right now. I might pick up another sn95 so parts for sale have been paused for the moment just incase i need a thing or two for the next car. I'll know within the week whats forsale or not for sure though.

And lets see that roof! I've never heard of it before....

They are funny in that I HATE them in commercials and in adds, but in person I like their looks. As I get older I am appreciating function over form; the edge seems to take a good stab at having both.

Black is always the best color!

My girlfriend, who is over my shoulder right now, would like you to know that your wife is cute and that she likes her outfit. I feel light in the loafers typing that but apparently these things are important to women.

I know a girl that got one back in May and it is really nice.

The wifes aunt was looking to trade in her 02 escape for an edge but she didnt like how the sun roof really didnt go that far back...she was under the impression it went back over the rear seats not just too the back seats.

A local dearship had some with some 19-20's on them and they do look GREAT.

ive had one for a demo for about 4 months and its one of the best riding vehicles i have ever been in and i have driven 100's(close to thousands) of different cars home throughout the last 10 years in the car biz. you will enjoy it more and more. im not a huge fan of it(i prefer the 07+ sport trac v8 or explorer ltd v8) since it is definitely more of a girls ride, but you cant beat 100/ a month for a new car
