...a '95 GT with about 80k miles on it for $6950, or a '93 Cobra with about 100k miles on it for $7850. I don't really know to much about the 5.0 engines, I'm mainly a 4.6 man. So if anyone could tell me what the better deal is here, it'd be gladly appreciated.

The 93 is definitely the more rare model of the two. Aside from the fact it was the only "new" cobra of that body style. (can't forget about the 79 and early 80's models) Plus last year of the fox body. The 95 is "just a GT" - no flaming please- but it is the last year of the 5.0. From a collector's perspective, the 93 is worth more now and I'd imagine will be worth more 10 years from now. I'm biased too though....... :D

Holy smokes man, grab that Cobra before is slips away! Rare enough indeed, and don't sweat the 5.0 thing, you will like it and catch on quickly. I think you might also find you will enjoy working in the 5.0 engine bay vs the crowded 95 bay. So many parts, so little money and time!!!
This all assumes the Cobra is still in nice shape. Very worthwhile car to own.

This shouldn't even be a question, Cobra hands down. Very Rare, you'll kick yourself everyday if you pass it up for the '95. '95s are nice, don't get me wrong, but a Cobra is a Cobra, especially a '93 Cobra, extremely rare. This guy that goes to the car show in my town every Saturday has a teal one and he bought it brand new for $20,000 and refuses to ever sell it unless he can make back what he paid for it. Good job on finding the Cobra, now go buy it and don't wait for any more of us to tell you. Later, Jeff.

The only thing that worries me, is that the Cobra probably has around 200,000 miles on it :(. I know I said 100k before, but that was just a guess...I actually went and looked at the car yesterday, got the VIN, and the last date CARFAX has is in 2003 and it has roughly 153,000 miles. Figure in the driving habits for two years, and we're probably sitting on 170-200k miles. With that variable thrown in...I really dont know what to do.

Would I be ok if I put in forged rods, crank, and pistons? Along with some new Twisted Wedge heads with new valve springs and rocker arms?

Edit: I had a discussion in a cam thread last night, and was told it would be better to put in a 306 or 347. But I really dont have the money to do an engine swap, and would ultimately be reduced to rebuilding the stock block.

the stock bottom end has forged rods, either the Cobra or the '95 GT has hyper pistons, the crank is good to about 450-500hp, and it's nodular iron, if you're going to go to the trouble of buying new internals, you'd be better suited to buy a shortblock somewhere...and honestly dropping forged internals in a stock block is a waste of money, after a certain hp, the block is going to give way, then you'll have wasted that expensive bottom end...plus the forged crank weighs quite a bit more.
