Great idea. Looks good! I would prefer brushed aluminum, but I'd go for the less expensive too. I have billet alum. pieces in my interior as well, and this gives me some ideas....hmmmm.

If you want to try the "brushed" look...get a piece of scotchbrite and rub the panel (like sanding) in the direction you want the "brush" marks to go. The scotchbrite you want to use needs to be the red color one. I work for a company that makes ornamental/spiral stairs and do a lot of polished aluminum/brass/bronze and stainless steel work...I was surprised to see them use scothchbrite to get the desired look..

Anyhow...looks great and original

I think if my interior was pretty beat up id do that to kinda make it look nicer.

But im actually proud to say my interior is really mint,
My Door pockets wasnt sagging that much, But I never used them and these have a much cleaner look,

Congrats for having the courage to be different. Looks good.
Now, just think what could be done with flat aluminum panels, or aluminum mesh, access to a bead roller, some metal etching or engraving equipment, and throw in some VHT metal tinting spray paints or anodizing.
