im doing new calipers and hawk pads and i cant seem to figure out how to get the stock calipers off. its driving me crazy, and im scared ill bust a brake line. any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

Where exactly are you having trouble? Getting them off the rotor, or getting the brake lines disconnected?

whoops. sorry, im having trouble getting the lines disconnected. should i remove the hose on the caliper or the line on the frame bracket? thanks.

You'll need a flare wrench to do that If you try a regular standard/metric wrench you'll round if off.

Oh yeah, that if your going to disconnect it at the frame bracket. If you just going to undo it at the caliper just use a wrench on it (I forget the size ) BTW it a good time to upgrade to some braided stainless hoses (if you haven't do so already) since you doing the calipers anyway.

cool. do i use the flare wrench for the hose on the bracket or the use it for the line? i tried using a wrench for the hose at the bracket and all it did was bend the bracket. yeah ill probably get some SS hoses. i didnt even think of it till now.

im, still having trouble getting that hose off the frame rail. ive got a flare wrench and ive removed the c clip. it just wont budge. what am i doing wrong?

The flex hose to hard line connection is a mutha to get loose if it has never been off. Good luck and watch those busted knuckles

I found a 11mm flare wrench to fit very nice and snug. Hold the flex line nut with an 11/16 (?) wrench when you try to turn the fitting. Good luck - they are a b-itch to do.

ok, i was using a flare wrench for the flex line. that may be the problem right there. ill have to go get an 11mm flare. thanks

alright, got it. i used the 11mm flare, instead of trying to ge tit off with the 17mm. i was backwards. came off real easy with the use of a short braker bar. thanks
