My stock MAF is crapping out so I have to buy a new MAF & was looking at partshopper for a new Mass Air Meter... first of all, it looks like none of the C&L's come with the sensor-> it looks like just the aluminum housing?? And none of them are specified as calibrated for certain sized injectors... I have a set of nearly new Motorsport 24lb's out of a 95GT-> Will they not go into a 96 GT? I was just going to buy a MAF calibrated for 24's and replace the injectors at the same time...

Anyways can someone make my search easier and tell me where I can get a new Mass Air Meter, preferably quality aftermarket>> Thanks

There's not a better one?

And does the aftermarket not make them calibrated for anything other than stock 19lb inject's?

the company you buy it from can calibrate it to anything you want...this can also be done through your computer with a tune.

granatelli motorsports is worth checking out.

50resto has the C&L MAF with the inlet pipe too. They come with the sensor, don't worry. The sensor is just inside the housing. With C&L, the sample tube can be removed and replaced for a car with different injectors. So if you got a C&L calibrated for 19 lb injectors, and you upgrade to 24s or something, all you gotta do is just switch out sample tubes. A lot of people say Pro-M is better because they tend to have less problems. But those have to be sent back to Pro-M for recalibration.

what has been done to your car that requires larger injectors, or m.a.f.?
Well the injectors I don't really care about right now... its just more of -> so I won't have to mess with the calibration of the MAF later. But the stock MAF is going bad and causing my car to idle like crap. It has to be replaced.

Is the idle the only thing wrong with the car? Cus a bad MAF will cause the car to run like crap ALL the time, and you will have NO power. Trust me, I'm on my 3rd one. If the idle is the only bad part, I'd check your IAC (if you have one, not too familiar with 4.6's) and your timing.

See my other thread:

My first thread

Tell me what you think. I can tell the car has lost power and is not getting the best gas mileage. Its only started this in the last month and is slowly getting worse. At idle the RPM's jog around between just below 1K and 500 and the poor motor is rocking itself around the engine bay.

No one has come out and said "Try blankidy-blank, they're really good" ..so I'm starting to get the notion that there are no good aftermarket MAF's?

I looked at Granatelli before starting this thread and I'm not paying over $600 for their kit...

Does your car still accelerate normally? If so, and it only has a rough idle, I don't see how it can be a bad MAF. Have you pulled codes? Go to autozone and get them to pull the codes, they do it for free. Your MAF reads the incoming air (quantity, density, temperature etc.) and sends that info to the PCM. If the MAF is going bad, it's gonna give bad readings all the time, and not just at idle. I would look at your IAC (idle air control) valve and see if that's not the problem.

Back to the original question, Pro-M and C&L are both really good companies, most people like Pro-M a little better because they usually have less problems with them. C&L is good because you can recalibrate them without having to get into the PCM or send it back to the company. Either way you go is a good choice. I have had both Pro-M and C&L, and I stuck with the Pro-M. Good luck.
