Ok I know this has been posted a lot lately but none of the threads has my answer. My car is a 93 gt which was an aod and I swapped to a 5speed. I ran the tag on the rear end and also checked the gears by spinning the tires and counting the driveshaft a dozen of times and it always comes out to 3:27 gears. Well on the parkway @ 65mph my stock tachometer says im at 2500 rpms. I pulled the gear and it was black, "I used the gear that came with the t5 tranny so I dunno what gears he had in." Well I went to the local ford dealer "downs ford" and they gave me a red gear, well it's still off. Is there any way my stock tachometer could be broke or maybe off? Would the computer have something to do with it because I still have the aod one in? Also brothers performance sells a speedometer and rpm recalibrator but I'm not sure if it's for foxbodies, by any chance does the tachometer or speedometer run into the computer or maybe even a box before it reaches the transmission?

as i recall, there are two gears. one on the cable and one on the tailshaft. if you are matching up the cable gear to the wrong tailshaft gear, your speedo will be off. just a possibility.
