Went over and talked to the guy at the shop thats working on my car yesterday. Unfortunately he hasn't gotten much done since the first thing he noticed when taking apart my stuff is that my valvetrain geometry was a little off, and I probably need longer pushrods. He thinks I need a 6.400" pushrod, I have 6.250" right now. Once again this is something I checked and thought was close enough that it was OK, but not the case.
He also said that having the pushrods I do now, wouldn't be the cause of my loss in power, but still needs to be corrected (I agree). He's got a bunch of different length pushrods, but he was going to fab it up with the 6.400" first, and then if thats the right size, order those, reassemble and then hopefully diagnose my problem. I am very confident this guy knows his stuff, the more people I have talked to, the more he seems to be the 'mustang guy' in town. He had a couple of engines assembled for a couple of his mustangs that he showed me some stuff on, it all looked really good.

Anyway, just thought I would give a little update, and if anyone needs a set of Engine Werks 6.250" hardened pushrods w/ less than 50 miles on them, just let me know!

I bought the Trick Flow package including cam, rods, heads and intake but since I landed up going with Canfield heads instead, the rods that came with my Trick Flow package were too long. I landed up retaining the stock sized pushrods but they were the Ford Motorsport hardened rods.

Hmmm...Ed sent me 6.250" length Engine Works hardened pushrods. When I checked the geometry, the sweep was pretty much near the center of the valve stem.

It is weird though that my heads are milled 0.020" and I figured that was the difference from the 6.25" to the stock 6.27", but apparantely Ed sent you the same size. I wonder why?

I also must ask why this guy thinks you need longer pushrods, what was his exact reasoning?

Unless I have a specific knowledge that mine were to be wrong, I'm not changing them. I trust Ed's following on the parts he sold me.

When he showed me where the rockers are now hitting on the top of the valves, its a little back of center, so the longer ones make sense.

Keep in mind that being off center is not the most important measurement. Most important is that the width of the contact patch is as narrow as possible.
