I think the PBR's are good as they are for street and track duty. I bought some Raybestos pads and turned my OEM rotors and my car stops great. I have the 99-04 set up on my old 91 notch. My 96 Cobra...I did the same thing. I am not a fan of big aftermarket brake setups.

NAPA drilled and slotted, they are only $60 each and they last. I like EBC green pads.

Just get OEM replacements. Unless you do a lot of track runs you don't need an upgrade. Just don't go for the cheap pads. They wear out quickly and you'll be changing them out again in a year. If you need rotors try the Wagner brand. They are made in USA. Cheap Chinese rotors will wear out/warp quickly too.

plus, cheap brake pads create loads of brake dust. ceramic ftw!

Speaking of brakes, I was looking at the Cobra front brake kit. Not worried so much about the rear kit right now. Opinions anyone?

I needed brakes too, so I did the upgrade - you can't beat the price for all new hardware. I'm happy with it. It's hard to tell how much better the stopping power is as my old brakes were pretty well worn and anything new would feel 100% better. The size difference is significant though...and with that much more surface, you'll surely be stopping quicker. I dig em and they look good too. I got mine last Christmas from http://www.buyfordracing.com/

Do have pics? I want to get the brake kit with the red calipers and just paint my rear ones to match the front.

Agreed...Stock GT brakes aren't exactly the best out there. One thing to also consider if you do decide to upgrade the front calipers to Mach1/Bullitt/Cobra is stainless braided lines. They don't add much more to the bill and add to your braking efficency when you really slam on 'em. IMHO, any safety upgrade is a good upgrade.

I did the Bullitt calipers and currently run Goodridge S/S lines with Hawk HPS pads and Brembo drilled rotors. It doesn't stop like a European thoroughbred but it 100x better than stock...

That's what I did. Here's a couple quick pics - note that I had just washed the car, and brakes immediately turn to rust when wet...! They do, however, fill the wheel out very well...

Rear cobra/Mach/Bullit brakes do nothing but add a vented rotor. Yeah, the rotor may be larger, but the disc pad area is exactly the same. The calipers are the same.

I do now have Cobra brakes in front and rear, but the rears were a must for the IRS.

Thanks for the pics, looks great. I was going to get the black ones but I like the red because it stands out. I was thinking of getting the front cobra brake kit and just paint the rear calipers red for the time being.

Thanks for the shots. How is the stopping power on those babies?

Car stops on a dime. Definetly a huge noticable difference from stock by far.

Yes they do. they help because of more leverage not pad surface area. your fronts work the same way. the front cobra/mach1/bullitt brake calipers have almost the same pad surface area that the gt brakes have. and get this the gt calipers have bigger pistons. the reason the cobra/mach1/bullitt brakes stop better is becuase of more leverage from the bigger rotor. and the rears work the same way.

Should I save up for the whole front and rear set? Or will the front set be ok with the stock rears?
