The halo headrests are sold by 50resto.com now I think...
They don't have the netting... they can be found in Escorts if I remember.

The corbeau gts ii look very similar. If you found some 85-86 GT halos you might be able to take them to an upholstery shop with a picture of the fish nets and see what they can do. It may be easier to hybrid the seats than to find originals.

The current Recaro Specialist seat is as close as you are going to get to that seat by Recaro. The net
headrest was available as an option on all of their seats for several years after it was included in the Mustang beginning with the 79 Pace Car model. I have one of those seats which was reupholstered in black with the net headrest that I converted to an office chair. You may try calling some of the US dealers for Recaro (from the Recaro Web site) and ask if they have any of the net HR left. Slim chance I know, but worth a shot. I would think these older HR will fit the newer seats as well.

im thinking about building a pair of recaro headrest seats from the setas i have in there now. rip off the foam, use the frame, grab some thick foam and start shaping then get them upholstered... has anyone built seats from a bare frame before?

check out a local shop or look online, the seat foam can be found, there are a few custom shops in my area. I know they use different density foams and glue them together and use an electric knife or something like it to get the general shape then work it from there with other tools to get the shape. mattress foams are not correct.

You can find pretty close on ebay pretty often.
Some early trans am's were close, i believe the 79 mustang pace car had them too.
Going to have to recover whatever you buy.

Consider getting flow fits then some netted headrests.
They also go pretty well in a fox.
