Im new to cars and have a few questions...

Any track days in Northeast area?

What kind of prep is needed?

How do the Saleens hold up? (Im used to bikes and in the beginning I would race it on the weekends and commute on Monday. Im sure weight alone 3500 compared to 400 can take its toll)

Seems to me a nice flowing track would do less harm then auto cross but like I said Im new and would like to know of any and all events track related in my area.

If there are not any evewnts in the area, would there be any interest in getting together and renting a track such as Pocono, etc? (Ill also check out the general Stangnet forums)

Thanks in advance, GK

A lot of my friends really like NASA. I have yet to do one myself, but they do have a northeast chapter that seems to do a lot in or near Jersey. http://www.nasanortheast.org/ If they don't have any scheduled soon, the guys on their forum probably know of the closest events.

They will be able to tell you any car prep items as well, but mainly all you need is good brake fluid, good pads, no leaks, tires in good shape, and the required safety equipment. No specific "racing" items is required.

Renting out tracks is hideously expensive mainly due to insurance, etc. Some tracks require an ambulance to be on site as well. Large organizations such as NASA can do it because they have insurance coverage to do it.

Just look for HPDEs (High Performance Driving Events) in your area, these are what some people call track days. The cool thing is that they are "instructive events" and some insurance companies will cover your car while you drive on the course.

Here is the northeast NASA's HPDE FAQ page: http://www.nasanortheast.org/faq.htm

Their site is a little hard to navigate, I can't find a calender of HPDEs on the site.
