Well my friend/cousin is a ricer in a 95 Mustang. His car is nice and everything but he keeps on making up stories about his so called "300 hp stock 5.0 that had eight O2 sensors but was modified to have only two"... I still don't get it but anyway... he goes up to strangers (with fox body 'stangs) and starts telling them that they are in the mid 16's because he beat one once with his car (which runs 14.75 with perfect conditions). I mean what the hell? Who does this sort of thing? He has so much to prove it isn't funny.

I raced him one night at the track (no times, friday night street racing) and I kept him at my door the whole way but I only shifted at around 4,000rpm due to my finished tires (wires hanging out in the back) and my tired engine (almost no oil pressure). But he told everyone, behind my back that he beat me by 10 cars and that fox bodies are junk. But to my face he claims to have missed a lot of shifts. :notnice:

But if I could do something to give her a little more life like 3:73 gears just so I can run him at least once and kick his butt. I won't tell him about the gears, I just want to shut him up... I know I'm doing a ricer-ish thing but it's the only way to shut him up. You can't knock any sense into this guy, before he found out he couldn't do better than 14.75 he told everyone his car would be in the mid 13's and whatnot. If I could do a low 14 second time like a 14.3 or something with a "stock" fox body, he will shut the hell up. I have to do this because he's about to get a real life beating by a group of guys. I don't want him to get hurt because of his mental problems and I'm 100% sure if he looses in a race to a stock fox body, he won't talk anymore.

So do gears really make that much of a difference? I'm sure I'd be in the high 14's with mine as it is. I got some okay tires in the back now so at least I'll be able to give it some more gas.

LOL  Just take out the spare tire, and wire up some Nitrous and hide the tank back where the spare tire used to go. :nice:

PS: Don't forget to take it to the track so you have proof you ran faster than him. Not to mention no cops to worry about, and if anything happens, medical personnel are on hand.

Can a clogged air filter harm performance  Mine has so much dirt in it, you can't see any sign of sunlight through it. I was holding out for a complete kit to put a cone filter in the fender. I guess I'll do a tune up, new O2 sensors, air + fuel filters, spark plugs, PCV, etc... Kendall 50 oil also to help with pressure a little lol

Flatten his tires for being an azzhat and then you can beat him by 10 lengths :)

I'd never do such a thing but I'd be willing to bet something bad will happen to his car. He points and laughs to just about anything and screams outloud "you car sucks, mine is faster"

Put K&N filter in there and take off the silencer.

right now the only "mods" I have are an electric fan, Flowtech shorty headers, and an off road X-pipe. I didn't know there was a silencer... I do feel like by-passing the coolant lines that go into the EGR spacer?

From what i have heard this is a useless mod, as it does not cool it enough to make much of a difference at all. Unless you can lower underhood temperatures, i don't see the point.

   :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: Funny thing is it probably won't shut him up. I have ran into people like that. Althugh they still say I won (because I have the timeslips for proof) they want to say it was close....a 12.32 to a 13.8 ??????? OK. OK. Enough about that. Just do some of the things already mentioned and you should beat him.

NICE :D I'll try and get the 3:73's on there this week :D I had some 4:10's in stock (was going in the Cougar) but I think 4:10 in a lightweight notch is overkill.

Just got my 3.73s installed Thursday and it really woke my car up. No times yet due to friggen rain on track days but I'd like to hit the 1/8th mile track thursday night to see how much of a drop it made. My car pulls a lot harder through the gears for a stock motored stang now, so with gears you'd stomp him from a dig. When ya get em tho, spend a little time getting reaquainted with it, as it will spin a hell of a lot easier now, and you'll have to be ready to shift earlier since your shift points will come up faster. Spin it up to about 5200ish and you'll see him in the rearview.

This guy you're dealing with sounds like an idiot. Others are probably aware of this also, including the rice crowd (well maybe not them). Anyway, whatever you do or whatever happens, sounds like he will spin it to make himself look/feel better.

Add the gears, smoke his ass when you get a chance, but don't go out of your way to confront him. He's a dumbass. Going out of your way to do anything involving him will only play into his immature dillusional game.

P.S. the steeper gears with a t5 will really shorten up 1st gear. No biggie, just remember 1st-to-2nd will be real quick. From a slow roll you can start from 2nd gear and not have to do a 1-to-2 shift.

Advice from the 'old guy':
Remember, try not to argue with an idiot, they will only drag you down and beat you with experience. And, don't get caught arguing with an idiot, someone watching may not be able to figure out which one is the real idiot.
