I really don't want to buy a Cobra Convertible!

I'm not expecting many responses here but.........

I really don't want another car, the garage is full. I started a project a year ago, which was resurrecting my haggard 60k 00 GT after a 3-4 year sit outdoors, not moving once. It was the first car I've ever bought, I have had some great memories with her. She now runs great and has some fun power, I will be buried in this car. But I've hit a crossroads and need to make a decision before I take her to the next level, or buy a cobra convertible and mod that (still keeping my GT). I'm here in the so cal desert. I live in the sunniest area in the entire US and I'm dying for a convertible. I've done as much research as I can on what I can do to open up the roof on my car, but there is very little info to say the least. And the calls I've made to a few places have resulted in getting nowhere.

First I was thinking T-Tops....I actually saw some pictures of some 99-04 stangs that have em and I just don't think they look very appealing. I've also seen some with a removable targa top similair to a Supra, still not looking very good, or at least in the pics. Anyone seen either of these in person?

So the last thing that I can truly think of is converting the roof to glass that is removeable, leaving the arches between the trunk and hood above the side windows intact. Anybody ever seen anything like this or know of someone who may have these capabilities?

I wouldnt jack up your car...just get you another one. Dont get a cobra, because you will forget about your GT...SO easy to mod + nicer interior, you wont want to mess with the GT at all and will just start building teh cobra.

I had a 550RWHP GT, and I like my 458RWHP cobra better.

I would never jack it up......I would only consider something if it didn't look choppy. Which I think if done right.....a removeable glass roof just might do.

I WANT to keep interest in this car and would be much happier with it than a cobra could make me if I could just ditch the roof over my head. My history with this car is part of what puts a smile on my face whenever I drive her. However, if I have no viable alternative I will very reluctantly find some space for her in my parents garage and park her for the time being.

Yea man when i upgrade to a cobra im definately keeping my GT. Like you said I'll be buried in this car." Although i'm not big into drops, i can understand why you'd want one out there. I'd just get the cobra drop if i were you. Trust me if you love your GT as much as you say theres no way you'll forget about ole' Faithful. Plus when you monkey whore someone in it you can still say "But its just a GT".

hey, when you get a chance can you compair the GT and cobra wiper blades/arms. I was buying some for my GT the other day and seen that the cobra was listed as 22" and gt is 20"

j/w if the difference is in the arm design or if its just longer blades

not quite sure I'm diggin these. They seem to look ok from some angles but from a direct side view I don't know........I'd think they'd look better with the Arches above the windows remaining in tact. Or possibly a Center support like a T-Top still there

This one really looks better than the others I posted and I couldn't put my finger on it right away..... The flat black piece on the rear pillar really makes a HUGE difference, and with it, I think it looks pretty nice.

Personaly I don't blame you I wouldn't purchase an 03-04 Cobra
either after having a long conversation with a smart Ford technician
that knew alot.Just an idea have you considered trading in on a Subaru?

you just trolling for a fight? you haven't read a single thing in this post. I'm trying to get some opinions and knowledge from stang owners. Take those comments elsewhere, they are counter productive to this thread and I hope no one even addresses them

I only made a simple legit subjestion to you thanks for acting
like a total pompus towards me good job!
I am here because I am researching to fix two check engine
lights on my friends 1997 Ford Mustang GT and to fined what
parts he has to replace to fix his vehicle.
I asked a relevant question for my friend in 4.6L tech and
if you have any ideas of how to fix his vehicle I would appreciate it.
