my friend was behind me and i was in 3rd gear at 35mph. he was coming up on my rear quickly and i wanted to make fun of him (since i have a fast car and his chevelle's engine blew so hes mad he cant drive something fast for a while) so i down shifted to 2nd and just floored it. i thought i felt the tires break loose. i saw some white smoke from the rear of the car. the smoke appeared like it came from the middle of the rear end (where the muffs are).

do you think im running rich? what would the spark plugs look like?

Running rich you would see black smoke, but I hate to say this but you just burnt some oil. Check your PCV system, oil builds up in the intake under normal vaccume but when you suddenly give it gas, it all flys into the combustion chambers.

mine does that too, didnt start till i put an o/r h-pipe on it. ive been told its because i dont have cats and its burning moisture.

i had a 2.9 in a ranger and it did the same thing when i took the cat off of it.

I agree, I have seen guys smoke a clutch and think they are spinning the tires. There is a lot of smoke, the car is revving and sitting still. If you are driving and do this the car wont move forward, but the RPMs will climb and you will see smoke. If it wasnt the tires, it was more likely the clutch (if white and didnt smell like oil) which means new clutch time!

Yes it could be moisture like bart said.

I could even be dust being kicked up by the cooling fan.
That stock fan pulls a lot of air!

When you get a chance open the driver door with you sitting
Engine running
Hood closed
Stick your hand out kind of toward the bottom of the car and romp on the gas.
Your going to feel and sometimes even see all kinds of debris being blown back from under the car.
Try it.

i figured its the clutch but dammit that sucks. well its more like new tranny and clutch time.

oh by the way if i can turn my drive shaft with my tranny in gear, but my u joints arent moving its actaully something in the tranny. the transmission is also making a clunking noise.

Is this true because my 93 stang has a very slow coolant leak that i i have to fill every once in a while. i have heard so many things like it could be a blown head gasket, but i think it could be my water pump seal. does this happen to any one of you?
