I think the synchros are going

about the reverse gear grinding, reverse doesnt have a synchro ,,and thats why its best to be at astop when shifting in revers Or the idle too high can also cause it to gring going in reverse.replacing the synchros on a miled t5 is always best before you start stripping the dawg teeth of your gears then have to replace all the guts/unit.. If your brave, get a manual or video and save alot of $$$ by doing it yourself.synchro/bearing kits are pretty inexpensive, while a shop can be $500 and up to rebuild

Agreed with him above....Come to a complete stop for reverse and put it in a gear then put it in reverse, I always use 1st then reverse without any grinding...for 2nd try matching the rpm to the speed your going, or wait an additional second before you slide her in 2nd (gives time for the rpms to drop).

Reverse is synchronized in 1992+ T-5's.

Rebuild kits are inexpensive. Around $100 for the basic kit. If oyu dig into your trans now and replace all the wear items before you start grinding gears, the fix will be much cheaper.

Once you start grinding the hell out of 2nd gear, then you gotta replace hard parts which are $$$$

Technically, all you need to replace is one single $30 blocker ring....but since you'll have the t-5 open, might as well freshen up everything

Hmm .. strange ive never seen a reverse synchro in the 92 -93 WC t5, interesting......

It wasnt across the board.

I actually think only the 93 Cobras got the reverse synchro and then later on in the SN95 cars is was on all of them.

Not even sure if it is in the z-spec.

But i do know the t-5 did get a reverse synchro

well not only are the synchros bad, I was driving home today and the car wouldnt go over 60 mph and was like it was in neutral over 2500 rpm

I did get it off the highway onto the street about two miles from my house and had to have it towed... my tow guy (that didnt charge me) said its probably the clutch that went bad

he also didnt like the way the clutch felt which he thought contributed to the problem
