Ok, so i bought my 05 gt in early june and less then a week later i installed a pypes violator axleback system...for a while i was very pleased with it...now, its getting tired! I want it to be louder without spending ten grand and i want to keep the axleback system..can i add an x or h pipe? I was reading a few posts about them and have no idea what they do....any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's videos of my Violators with the Pypes off road H pipe. I LOVE it. It's very aggressive and deep, but I'm able to keep it pretty quiet when the man creeps by.

The O/R pipe, be it X or H will make it much louder. Like Dark said, you can drive it easy and make it sound quieter

what is the difference between h and x...besides the obvious shape...is one more "legal" than the other....as far as passing inspection goes..i dont care abt sound laws...just emissions and such...can i keep my cats?

depending on the state you live in if you dont have cats you wont pass emissions. as far as x vs h pipes, the h pipe tends to give you a deeper rumble/muscle car sound as opposed to the x which will give you kind of a higher pitch, but at wot the x is badazz.

X-Pipes give a more raspy tone, H-Pipes give a deeper tone. I prefer H's.

If you want to pass emissions, you'll need a Catted Mid pipe, keep in mind it wont be nearly as loud as an Off Road midpipe (which has no cats). If you want a nice sounding mid pipe go with the Magnaflow High Flow Catted H-Pipe. It sounds incredible with the Steeda Axle-Backs.

Here is my setup. I went with the Steeda Axle Back system + Pypes Off Road H-Pipe. I get compliments all the time on the way it sounds

What would an electric cutouts offer the original poster. I've been floating the idea of a louder exhaust as well. Wont cutouts give you the best of both worlds?

Cutouts on a bolt-on car will just sound like crap. They'll be loud, but completely unrefined. Stock or semi-stock, you're not pushing enough horsepower for it to sound right. Plus, there would be no backpressure at all. Again, without forced induction, that is a bad thing and could actually lead to engine damage.
