Identifying a KC clutch?

My KC clutch just showed up so natuarlly I inspected it. It doesn't have any marking indicating what it is  . I was lookig for a Valeo marking or anything it's just plain. I picked it up from (Dynamic Racings) ebay store and showed up in a plain FedEx box.

Danny, you might want to toss a thread up on the Corral in Gen Stang tech. There has been scuttlebutt over there about some KC's not being Valeos, and some of those guys might know specifically what to look for.

It reminds me of when my sis had a VW and some of the Sachs stuff came from Europe and some Mexico. I looked at every box for where it came from.............

Good luck Danny.

Or maybe call D&D in Wixom and ask them how one knows..................
Already did that and they said there is nothing on there that will determine if it is real. There is no marking (#'s, symbol, etc.) to verify it. They also said ALL KC clutches and or Ford racing are made by Valeo I'll go by what D&D say they would know. I remember reading about notches in the fingers, then I found this:

Our King Cobra Clutch features a "Light Pedal Pressure" unlike that of Competitors! King Cobra Clutch Kits are not determined by having "Notches/Grooves" in Fingers. This does not determine the "Pedal Pressure" of the Clutch Plate. It does however determine the "Clamping Force". The Pedal Pressure is determined by the "Fulcrum" Point in the Pressure Plate. A True King Cobra has a "Clamp Load" of 1,820 Ft. Lbs. The Higher the "Clamp Load" Rating, the "Heavier" Pedal Pressure. Be cautious of other competitors selling King Cobra's with Higher "Clamp Load" than 1,820!!
Did it come in ford racing box in side of the fedx box?
Negative just the fedex box thats what kinda what triggered my interest for looking for marks. I have no reason to believe it's not a KC clutch was just looking for #'s because it was just in the box not a ford racing anything or hint of it being KC.

Danny, I am with you all the way with going with what D&D/The Walshes think. I would feel ok with it then - not a whole lot else to do.

OH, and thanks for sharing what was said. I guess we can nip the internet rumor in the bud......

Yup when he said they were all made by Valeo that's all I needed to here. But check out what Dynamic Racing says (I'm getting confuses)

OTHER SELLERS ADVERTISE WHAT THEY CALL A " KING COBRA " THAT IS ACTUALY A " LUK " HEAVY DUTY OR OTHER CHEAPER QUALITY ITEM AND DOES NOT HAVE A LIGHT PEDAL PRESSURE PLATE ..ALSO DOES NOT SHOW ACTUAL ITEM IN THE PICTURE..THEY ARE USING A VALEO PICTURE AND VALEO NO LONGER MAKES THIS STYLE CLUTCH " THATS CALLED FRAUD "
They also say this

Danny, I am confused too. I did some generic internet searching and didnt find much in the way of people saying that Valeo was not making the KC.

AFAIK, Diversified is pure Ford and the PP looks the same to me. Does your disk have any nomenclature on it? In lookin at their picture here, the disk looked like it has something printed on it.

I bet you will be fine with it. Who knows what we are really getting with these things (people complained when ford switched the OEM style fox clutch cables to being made overseas, but they have held up great).

Sorry to not have better info.

Nope nothing on here just a plain disk and pressure plate. I'll just break it in then drive it like I stole it. Just doing some snooping to find the facts, like I said I have no reason to doubt them just curious by nature.

I just looked at my king cobra (it's been sitn in my room for months)

On the pressure plate it's stamp to time's one ford other valeo
On the disc It's stamped once valeo. I got the from dallas mustang.

I called D&D they put me on hold for ever so I hung up. on my disc the springs
are purple has the # e5zm-7550-a302h af3 on the fly wheel side. stamp valeo on the other side. wtf

My old king cobra disk looked like what Bdawk2002 posted. I got it from d&d.

Fyi, my promotion powertrain blueprinted motorsport HD pressure plate doesn't have the notches in the fingers.
