i can top that.... took my car to get the clutch done a while back, i had to drop it off and go to work, i call them up to see how it was going and the guy said "man your car has some balls" needless to say i was pissed....

Dude, why are you letting people bash you? I will be 18 in May and i know where your coming from. I don't think you did anything wrong, the dude shouldn't have gotten into your car if he didn't know how to drive it. Just like if you took your engine to a machine shop, are you going to let some dumb ass who dosn't know his ass from a hole in the ground start boring your engine? I think not.

Short and simple...

If he's got the balls to get into my car and not know how to drive it and then burn the clutch right in front of me.....Im going to have to balls to tell him to stop, depending on the mood im in, it may be nice, it may piss him off, but the point is, i dont care about his feelings at that point. He's ****ing my car up and im not going to like it. If the guy doesn't know what the hell he's doing, then why is he doing it?

Thats prob the one thing someone could say to piss me off the most I no for a fact I wouldnt be going back there ever again. I remember once I went to Advance auto to get my codes checked (didnt have my scanner yet) and the guy was looking over my engine and was trying to tell me how it has more stuff done to it than I know it does...I was like I built the motor from scratch and put everything under the hood in myself, how would i not no what i have done to it ...Maybe the guy being a drug addict had somethign to do with it

As for ur clutch, it lost some of its life but i doubt anything u would notice...seemed like the guy was giving it gas rather than releasing the clutch... u didnt say it but, i wouldnt have done the burnouts if it was anytime since the guy was burning up the clutch.

I used to work at a shop too and I know how it can feel to have people staring at you while ur doing work. Sometimes it can mess up ur concentration (me anyways) doing something, like when ur school teacher would look over ur shoulder while doing work But I understand since I would want to do the same thing. But if someone was burning up my clutch, I would be telling them and prob just drive off and look for a different shop or something.Only time my cars in the shop is for an alignment or for tires. Im not just gonna shrug it off, if someone isnt familiar driving a 5spd then they should let someone who does drive it. Im very overprotective about my stang too, im not gonna let someone ruin all my hardearned money and being my only way to school/work, im not risking anything. From working at a shop before and seeing how if they ran out of the oil filter for a car and seeing that they just spray the oil filter with brake cleaner to make it look like its been replaced shows me not to trust anyone besides me, cant trust anyone these days

that really sucks man, i hate stupid shops that do schotty work, anyway i live in aberdeen, an hour away from you and know here we have hubbs mufflers, the guy does great work and cheap too, the only downside is he welds everything, like if your hanger was bolted on before, he'd torch it off and weld it up higher...its all good to me tho since he knows exactly where to bend what so its perfect right and left, LMK if you're heading my way sometime and i'll get my 82' 5 liter out, you might remember me from a while back, when i played with r/c cars a lot more than i do now..ttyl

Then when you finally realize I stopped because you've so far up my ass, you could check my colon for cancer, I will explain to you if you don't give me my space, YOU CAN DO IT and I'll charge you twice as much. Or I will close the shop door in your face, whichever I feel will PISS YOU OFF MOST, because I know YOU know by standing there, you're pissing me off. If there is one thing most techs can't stand is the dumb ass people that need to bring their car in cause they don't know what they're doing sits there and stares at you, like you have no idea what you're doing, or you're gunna **** something up. Ya know what? Do it in your driveway, or take it elsewhere. Somewhere you can trust if you don't trust me. And as for an alignment... I drive the car before, and after the alignment. No one pulls their car up on my alignment rack. I need to test drive the car to check for pulls and wheel straightness. Just to get an idea of what might be wrong and what might need to be done. If you don't like the rules... I'm sure there is another shop down the road that will let you do what you want, and charge you less at that... But you want me to work on YOUR car because YOU CAN'T DO IT... hand the keys over... and go sit in the lobby and read your damn Good Housekeeping. Thank you.

I agree with pretty much all of what you just said. I work as a tire technician and when people are up in my face, it really makes me mad.....although if the person is respectable I don't mind them watching at all. As for the original poster's case, the guy driving his car was obviously wrong, as he should not have been smoking his clutch.

I hear ya, i do all my own work too, machine work, clutch, h/c/i, etc. everything besides alignment but now im able to do it for free at my school in the next 2 weeks ...Sadly I don't trust anyone these days, unless I personally know how they work and operate...they wont be getting near the driver side of my car...plus about 90% people I meet can't even open my driver door...unless they also have an old Ford where they know u need to twist and push down at the same time on the handle ...or else theyre standing theyre for an hour trying to lift up the handle with their whole body weight or something

BTW ur lucky u even have a house garage...i did my whole motor swap and everything outside in like 95 degree weather

I doubt that he hurt your clutch much, when I was learning how to drive a stick, I would smoke the clutch constanly on a neon beater parts runner car we have , same clutch is in the car 2 years later. The shop where I now work at will not allow anyone in because of insurance purpose's and also because you are getting charged by the hour if you sit there and jaw with the tech for 15 minute's you are just going to pay for a 1\2 hr. worth of work that was never performed.

P.S.
Still scratching my head over the exhaust\differential thing. I have never heard of that one before, but will ask someone with more experience since I just manage the place now.
