IDLE, bogging, and engine die

So out of no where today my car starts acting up as I was leaving work. I out in reverse pulled out then put in 1st and it sounded very bogged down like takin off in 3rd, but it wasnt it was 1st. Lots of power lost also. So when I get home which is 5 mins from work I sit in driveway just listening and it dont sound like it did. Sounds like its bogging out, or exhaust is clogged. Then idle started going up and down then would die. Feed back please!!!

I would start with gently cleaning the mass air meter.... you can either get a can of 'mass air cleaner' or dip a Q'tip in rubbing alchohol & very,very gently clean the meter air flow sensors.

probably. why did he unplug it? makes sure he pushed the plug back on all the way. did he unplug anything else? the intake air temp sensor is close by also.....make sure the plug for that is on good to as that can also cause problems.

also try disconnecting your battery for 20min to reset the ECM. when your bro unplugged the mass air with the motor running, the ECM would have automaticly thrown a error code & your chech engine light would have come on breifly, so it is a good idea to reset the ECM after that happened.

Well my check engine light comes on sometimes anyway. I dont know why he unplugged it. We were just looking under hood and he unplugged it lol Then car shut off and he said well that works. Would u explian disconnecting my batt. would this maybe get the sensor back on track its self?

Also would TPS cause all these symptoms?

OK so I just seen a vid on this Im gonna try it. You can also try a few other methods of removing the ECU/ECM fuse/s and waiting 5 or so mins then replacing and driving around



Disconnected the NEG. wire for about 20 mins drove around and it still does it

UPDATE: I got the idle fixed, but still boggin sound and power loss.
I Did this
1. Turn key to ON (not start) position
2. Press gas pedal to floor(feel little button go click)
3. Hold for 5 seconds
4. Keep pedal to floor and turn key to off
5. Release gas pedal
6. Wait 2 minutes and then start car.

That sounds like the procedure to set the throttle range so the PCM will know what idle and WOT volts are. Have you cleaned the MAF yet.

I dunno but it work right after I done it. Either that or disconnecting the NEG battery cable, maybe the batt method takes longer. So I got idle fixed I found out sound was exhaust got it fixed, but power still lacking and when tryin accelerate is slow and revs kinda funny Like a skipping sound. How much could spark plugs help power? I know not that much. Ive got MSD dist and plug wires etc

did you clean the mass air yet? a dirty mass air will give you power loss and slow rev. I doubt its the plugs but its not a bad idea if they have been on the car for a while to replace them. autolite 3924s.

No was gonna do that yesterday didnt have the T20H or whatever tool it is to take it off
