I have heard allot of people talking about reseting there idle how is this done,do they mean just unplugging the iac and then plugging it back in or what. because my idle is terrible what will bad 02 sensors do to the idle,i had a bad 02 sensor on my explorer and it idled fine but my mustang wont idle i already went through the idle surge list, when i start the car it idles fine for about a minute then it starts to surge then finaly dies, then i have to crank it allot to get it started again i just dont understand and when i pump the gas it starts easier.

in that sticky by Jrichker, in the first post i posted a link to cleaning various components and resetting stuff.

good luck.

you could try unhooking your O2 sensor and if you still have the problems, then the O2 probably wasn't the cause. What is your fuel pressure set at? Sounds like you're running a bit rich, which is why your car starts easier when you hold down the gas pedel (holding the pedel down WHILE CRANKING cuts off the injectors).

Check out that link HISSIN had...resetting idle involves actually turning the throttle set screw - but some say if you mess w/ it, you'll have a hard time getting it back where you had it, so be warned.

theuser what do you think my fuel presure should be for my combo,i am running 5 to 6psi of boost and i have a fmu
I believe the theory is to run the stock pressure (38 psi) and let the computer adjust fuel by varying pulse widths. It should measure whether you're running rich or lean via your O2 sensors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

With the stuff in your sig, you might need a decent tune to solve the issues. the stock puter/programming is decent, but it is adaptive really for a tractability and emissions standpoint. a major reason for the adaptive control is to make up for bad/degrading sensors, tolerances in components, etc (even right off the assembly line, sensors can have a bit of tolerance from one another). But the adaptive strategy is more geared that way and not so much to accomodate mods (as nice as that would have been).

I totally see James' point about messing with the idle set screw, but here is my take: you are far from stock, so stock settings are likely a good bit off. And even on stock cars, by the time they have a lot of miles on them, often factory settings no longer work best.
also, just note and write down what you do - you can always undo what you did (i do this often with motorcycle jetting and tweaks - it is too hard to keep track of what was done with 4 carbs).

I dont know about your FP question. I agree with James, except I have no clue about FMU's and that would need to be considered (i think. LOL).

good luck with it.

HISSIN50 were can i find how to check the computer codes i cant remember were it is on here, because i have a check engine light on, and another thing i have a power shut off switch wil having this hurt anything i mean turning the power on and off all of the time?

Jrichker posts links to retrieving codes all the time. Search his recent posts (IIRC, his post begins with "Dump the codes...").
I would do it, but it takes forever on dial-up. :bang:
also, a repair manual should have the procedure too (online sites do too if you do an internet search).

definately jump on that CEL. puters are complicated, but at least the self-diagnostics give a direction to go into.

good luck.
