You mean the gray box in this pic?

That's the TFI module. If it's gone bad it can cause your car to stutter, cut out or just not start entirely. Problems usually happen after the car has warmed up, not when it's cold. You'll need a deep socket 7/32 to remove the TFI, it's sold separately from the heat sink it's on.

You can also get ignition problems from the PIP inside the distributor. It can also get heat soaked and not work when it's warm. What problem are you having?

last night i was driving, and all of a sudden it seemed to stutter, bog out when i accelerated, then it got worse and car died out, it wouldnt start anymore, car sat all night and still wouldnt start, also my fuel pump wont turn on but i just changed the fuel pump, there is no spark, i had to get the car towed home........ and i just upgraded to a cold air intake yesterday, i dont know if that has n e thing to do with it........

TFI stands for "Thick Film Ignition" IIRC.

If you just did a air sucky tube I would double check all the connections, hose connectors, clamps. If your running a K&N style air filter you may want to clean your maf as sometimes if the filter has too much oil it will get sucked onto the maf and toss the sensor out of wack.

Fuel pump not turning on might be the CCRM that is located behind the coolant overflow bottle.

Check your fuses and stuff you touched for the air sucky tube install first.

TFI's are common to fail on older cars. They are more common on the fox chassis due to it being on the dizzy (closer to engine heat). The heat sink and move the fender seems to have helped with failures a bit for our years. They still go bad so it could be that.

Does the pump prime out?

Have the TFI bench tested (repeatedly to heat it up). If the pump won't run while cranking, it can be etiher the TFI or PIP, and it's easier to eliminate the TFI.

Good luck.
